A full tank in the Kia Sonet 2023 costs little and lasts most of a Dubai week, which is the first thing worth knowing if you're renting one. We bring it to your door in one to two hours, and we take pay-on-delivery, so you can sort the car the same morning you decide you need it. This is a small petrol crossover that sips fuel, sits you up high, and parks like a hatchback, and the decision this page helps you make is whether it's enough car for your trip or whether you should size up. For a solo driver or a couple running errands and the odd airport hop, it usually is.
The Sonet runs a 1.5-litre petrol with a CVT automatic and front-wheel drive, rated at about 17.5 km per litre. On a 45-litre tank that's a quoted range near 828 km, and in real Dubai city driving with the AC fighting the heat you'll see closer to 600 to 650 km between fills. Either way, most renters top up once across a week of normal running. Petrol is cheap here, and a light, modestly powered car like this keeps the weekly fuel bill about as low as a comfortable automatic SUV gets.

It's a five-seater, and the honest read is that it's a four-person car in practice. Two adults up front have plenty of room, and two kids behind are fine for the school run or a week of mall trips. Put a fourth adult back there with the front seats pushed back and it gets snug on a longer drive.
The 392-litre boot swallows one large case and a soft bag, or two cabin cases and a few totes, which covers a couple for a week. Drop the rear seats and you've got a flat space for a furniture run or a big grocery haul. If you're collecting four adults with full-size suitcases from the airport, this is where I'd point you at a Kia Seltos instead. The Sonet carries a couple's luggage well and a family's only if you pack light.
Dubai summers run past 45 degrees, and a car left in the sun becomes unbearable within minutes. The Sonet's advantage here is its size. A small cabin holds less hot air, so the AC drops the temperature faster than it would in a large SUV. Run the fan high for the first couple of minutes after a long park and the front vents pull it down quickly. Rear passengers get airflow fed from the front rather than their own climate zone, which is normal at this price and fine for short hops. For one or two people up front, it stays comfortable through August.
This is where the Sonet is happiest. The 1.5 has enough pull for traffic-light getaways and merging into city flow, the steering is light, and the high seat gives you a clear view over the traffic. Speed bumps in the residential streets and the steep mall ramps in the Marina don't faze it, because 205 mm of clearance is generous for the class and well clear of anything a Yaris would scrape on.
On Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 it holds the limit calmly, but be realistic about overtaking. With modest power and front-wheel drive, a quick pass at 120 needs a run-up, and it doesn't feel as planted as a heavier car at speed. For daily city use with the occasional motorway stretch it's well within its depth. If most of your week is long, fast inter-emirate driving, you'll want something with more grunt.
Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental fall to you, so watch the speed cameras on the E11. Seat belts are required in every seat, and a child seat is the law for under-fours, which we can fit on request.
Rent the Sonet 2023 if you're one or two people who want a higher driving position, a car that parks anywhere, and a fuel bill that barely registers across a week of errands and airport runs. For that brief it's genuinely hard to beat at this rate, and pay-on-delivery makes booking it quick.
Look elsewhere if you're a family of four or five travelling with full luggage, or if your week is mostly highway miles to Abu Dhabi and back. In either case step up to a Seltos or a Creta. You get a bigger boot, more rear-seat room, and a car that feels more settled at speed, which is exactly what the Sonet trades away to stay small, cheap and easy.
