The Kia Seltos 2025 rents in Dubai as the updated version of a compact SUV that has been a steady fleet performer for years, and the update is real even though it looks like the same car from across a car park. Kia stretched the body, raised the roofline a touch, and fitted a much bigger central touchscreen, while keeping the mechanical layout that made the older Seltos easy to trust: a 1.6-litre engine and a proper automatic gearbox driving the front wheels. We get it to your door within one to two hours. This page works out what actually changed and whether it matters for a week of Dubai driving, starting with what is under the bonnet.
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Engine | 1.6-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder |
| Power | 121 hp / 151 Nm |
| Transmission | 6-speed automatic (torque converter) |
| Drive | Front-wheel drive |
| Seats | 5 |
| Boot | 433 litres |
| Fuel tank | 50 litres |
| Range | roughly 600 km in city use |
| Dimensions (L x W x H) | 4,385 x 1,800 x 1,645 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,630 mm |
| Ground clearance | 190 mm |
| Colour | White |
Kia carried the drivetrain over rather than reinventing it. The 2025 Seltos still runs a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated four making 121 hp and 151 Nm, sent to the front wheels through a genuine six-speed torque-converter automatic. That is worth knowing because several rivals in this class now lean on a CVT that drones as the revs climb. This gearbox actually shifts through gears, so it feels like a normal automatic rather than a rubber-band one, and it drives close to how the previous Seltos in this fleet drives, because the hardware under the skin has not moved much.
Where the update shows up is in the details rather than the numbers. The body is about 70 mm longer and the wheelbase has grown by 20 mm, so the ride feels a fraction more settled over broken tarmac. Off the line it is unhurried, and merging hard onto Sheikh Zayed Road or overtaking with a full car still asks for a bit of planning rather than a stab of throttle. Settle it at 120 on the highway and it cruises there without complaint. Anyone expecting a sharper car because the styling looks newer will be disappointed. This is still a comfortable, predictable cruiser, not a quick one.
The boot holds steady at 433 litres with the rear seats up, enough for two large suitcases and a soft bag on a DXB or DWC run without anyone nursing a case on their lap. Fold the back seats and the floor opens out for flatpack furniture or a bike, still more than most hatchbacks at this price. Kia has not grown the boot with this update, so if cargo space was the draw, this version carries the same amount as the older car, just wrapped in a longer body.
The back seat takes two adults for a short hop, or two kids across for the school run, and it gets tight with a fourth adult and everyone's luggage loaded for a long airport transfer. The 190 mm of ground clearance clears Dubai's taller speed bumps and steep mall ramps cleanly, so multi-storey entrances and villa compound humps are not a concern. Do not read that as an invitation off road. This stays front-wheel drive on road tyres, and it will dig in the moment the tarmac runs out.
The 50-litre tank is generous for the class. Kia's official cycle figures run leaner, but expect closer to 8 litres per 100 km in real Dubai driving with the air conditioning working through a July afternoon, which puts a full tank near 600 km and usually one stop at the pump for a normal week of commuting.
Mileage is worth reading before you book. The daily allowance on this car is 250 km, comfortable for city life, and it is AED 0.5 per kilometre once you go past it. A full day out to Hatta and back will use a good chunk of that, so it is worth a glance at the odometer on longer trips. Salik tolls and any RTA fines are the renter's responsibility, and you will need to be 25 to take the keys on this one.
Cabin cooling is a genuine concern here, not a footnote. It is a mid-size cabin, so there is more air to bring down than in a small hatch, but the front vents pull hard and get a baked interior to something bearable within a few minutes of climbing back in on a 45-degree afternoon. The change you will notice straight away inside is the touchscreen, considerably larger than the older Seltos in the fleet and easier to read at a glance while driving. Park in shade where you can and the heat barely comes up as an issue across a week.
Rent the Seltos 2025 if you want the compact SUV a lot of Dubai renters already trust, with a slightly roomier body and a noticeably better screen, and you are one or two people or a small family doing commuting, malls and the odd airport run. If the older Seltos in this fleet has worked for you before, this one will feel like the same car with a few rough edges smoothed off.
Size up if you are regularly carrying four adults with a full boot of luggage every day, where a mid-size sedan or a seven-seater rides easier. Want more shove for overtaking? The turbocharged Geely Coolray has the pace advantage here. Chasing the lowest possible rate, the MG ZS undercuts this segment, though you give up some of the Seltos's cabin tech to save that money. And if the plan involves any real off-roading, this stays a front-wheel-drive crossover, not a 4x4.
For most people booking a compact SUV in Dubai, the update does what it needed to. It keeps the parts that worked, a torque-converter automatic and honest boot space, and fixes the one thing people noticed inside the older car, a small, dated screen. We will have it at your door within a couple of hours, and you will need to be 25 to take the keys.
