Book the Kia Seltos 2024 in Dubai and two figures in the rental terms deserve a close look before anything else: a 2,000 kilometre allowance for the entire rental, not a number that resets every day, and a minimum age of 23 to take the keys. Neither is the class default, and both change how you should plan the week more than the spec sheet does. The 2,000 km works generously for a short trip and gets tighter the longer you keep the car, worth spelling out honestly rather than glossing over. This page does that, then works through whether the Seltos itself is the right compact SUV once you understand the terms.

Kia fits this generation of Seltos with a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated four cylinder, 123 hp and 151 Nm, through a genuine six-speed torque-converter automatic rather than a CVT. That distinction matters, because several rivals this size use a CVT that drones as the revs climb and never quite feels like it is shifting. This gearbox holds a ratio properly, so the car pulls away in clean steps and settles into a normal cruising note instead of flaring under load.
Power is modest rather than exciting, and the Seltos was never built to hide that. Merge onto a fast lane with the car loaded, or pull past a truck on the highway, and it wants a bit of lead time rather than a confident stab of throttle. Around town, working through speed bumps, roundabouts and mall entrances, the throttle response is smooth and easy to read, which matters more day to day than a quicker sprint time would. Cruise it at 120 km/h and it sits there without strain, which covers the bulk of ordinary Dubai driving.
The boot holds 433 litres with the rear seats in place, room for two full-size cases and a soft bag, so a family arriving through DXB or DWC isn't juggling a bag on someone's lap on the drive home. Fold the back seats flat and the load area opens up for flatpack boxes or a bike, more than a similarly priced hatchback offers.
The second row seats two adults without complaint on an ordinary trip, or two kids side by side for the school run. Push it to three adults, or a fourth passenger alongside a full boot, and legroom runs short fast, the same ceiling every compact SUV in this class hits rather than something particular to the Seltos. Parking is where the dimensions pay off. At 4,315 mm long it slots into a tight tower bay or mall multi-storey level without the multi-point turn a bigger SUV forces, and 190 mm of ground clearance takes Dubai's taller speed bumps and steep basement ramps in stride. That clearance is for city inconveniences, not for sand. This is a front-wheel-drive crossover on road tyres, and it has no business on a dune.
The 2,000 km on this car is a total for the whole rental, handed over once rather than credited back each morning. For a short stay of three to five days that works out to well over 400 km a day if you needed it, more than almost anyone driving around the city will use. Stretch the same rental across two or three weeks, though, and the daily average drops fast, closer to 100 km a day, and a routine of commuting plus weekend trips can close that gap quicker than it looks on paper. Go past the total and it costs AED 1.0 for every extra kilometre, so map your actual driving against the length of your stay before you book. The age requirement sits at 23, a genuine middle figure for this fleet rather than the youngest or oldest cutoff on offer.
Fuel follows the same logic of planning ahead. The 50-litre tank is generous for the class, and in real Dubai driving, stop-start traffic with the air conditioning working hard, expect close to 8 litres per 100 km, which puts a full tank near 600 km. Most weeks that is one stop at the pump. Cabin heat deserves the same honesty. It is a mid-size cabin, so there is more air to shift than in a small hatch, but the front vents pull hard and bring a baked interior down to something bearable within a few minutes of climbing back in on a 45-degree afternoon. Park in shade where the compound allows it and the heat mostly stops being something you think about. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental are the renter's responsibility, as with every car in the fleet.
Book the Seltos 2024 for a shorter Dubai stay, up to a week or so, if you are one or two people or a small family covering commuting, malls and the odd airport run. The 2,000 km covers that kind of driving with room left over, and the torque-converter automatic makes it an easy, predictable car to spend a week in.
If your trip runs longer, two or three weeks or a month, work the mileage math against your route before committing, or ask the desk about a car with a larger pool. Size up altogether if you are regularly carrying four adults and a full boot, where a mid-size sedan or a seven-seater rides with less strain. Want more pace for overtaking? The turbocharged Geely Coolray has the legs on this naturally aspirated 1.6. Chasing the lowest rate, the MG ZS or the Renault Duster undercut this segment, and the Hyundai Creta shares enough of the mechanical package that price and availability on the day should decide between them. For genuine dune or off-road plans, this stays a front-wheel-drive crossover, not a 4x4.
For most renters on a short Dubai trip who want a compact SUV without full-size running costs, the Seltos 2024 does the job, and we will hand it over at your door within one to two hours.
