For a week of slotting into tight bays, threading mall ramps and doing the daily commute without thinking about it, the Kaiyi X3 2024 is one of the easiest small SUVs to live with in Dubai, and you can rent it from 18 with us when most of the market still wants you to be 21. It's a five-seat compact crossover, automatic, front-wheel drive, from a value Chinese brand that prices well below the established names. What you're weighing up is whether a low rate and effortless city manners are what your week needs, or whether you'd rather pay a little more for a more refined, harder-pulling car. We'll be straight about where the line falls.
The X3's whole character is easy urban driving. The 1.5-litre engine and its automatic gearbox pull away smoothly and quietly from lights, and around town there's nothing to fault, it's calm, light to steer and undemanding. That suits the school run, the supermarket loop and the short hop to the office better than almost anything at this price.
Where it shows its budget roots is pace. Ask it to overtake hard at 120 on Sheikh Zayed Road and the engine works audibly before much happens, so it's a relaxed highway cruiser rather than a confident one. For city errands and the occasional airport run that simply doesn't matter. If your week is long E11 stretches with a full car aboard, you'll wish for more under your foot, and that's the honest dividing line for this car.

| Ground clearance | About 158 mm |

The reason to look at the X3 is what it costs to keep moving. On the official 6.7 L/100 km figure it's genuinely cheap, and even in real Dubai driving with the AC fighting the heat you'll land somewhere in the eights. On a tank of around 51 litres that still means filling up roughly once a week for a renter doing city loops and the odd airport pickup, sometimes less. For anyone watching the budget over a week, that's the X3's strongest argument, and it's a real one.
Small footprint, easy life. The X3 drops into tight multi-storey bays, takes Marina ramps and mall U-turns without a three-point shuffle, and the higher seating gives you the clear view over traffic that's the whole point of choosing a crossover over a hatchback. Around 158 mm of ground clearance clears Dubai's speed bumps and the lips on mall entrances without you wincing.
The boot matches the small body. Expect one large suitcase plus a couple of soft bags, or a proper weekly grocery run, rather than two big hard cases side by side. Two adults and two kids with a sensible amount of gear fit fine. Add a fourth adult and everyone's airport luggage and it gets tight, which is the point to size up to a sedan or a larger SUV. This is also firmly a paved-road car, so the front-wheel drive and modest clearance mean Hatta and the dunes stay off the list, leave the sand to a proper 4x4.
Heat is the test that exposes a budget cabin, so it's worth being honest. Park the X3 in the open in July and it bakes, and the AC needs a few minutes of strong front-vent airflow to drag a soaked cabin down from 45 outside to comfortable. It gets there. There are no rear vents, though, so back-seat passengers wait a little longer to feel it. On a short trip that's a non-issue. If children ride in the back through midsummer, give the car a head start with the engine running and the AC on before you load everyone in.
A few operational points: Salik tolls run on your account during the rental, any RTA fine from the road follows you rather than us, and seat belts are required in every seat with a child seat for under-fours. Pickup and drop at DXB or DWC is simple given how compact the car is.
Rent the Kaiyi X3 2024 if you want the cheapest stress-free way to do a week of Dubai city driving with a higher view and easy parking, and you care more about a low rate and simple manners than cabin polish or highway muscle. As a no-fuss runabout for errands and short trips it does exactly what it sets out to do, and renting from 18 opens it to drivers other desks turn away.
Skip it if you'll spend real time on the highway with a full car, or if interior quality and a settled, refined drive matter to you. For a little more, a Hyundai Venue or Creta, or a similar crossover from a known brand, gives you better materials, stronger overtaking and a more planted feel. The X3 competes on price and easy city use, and for the renter who needs exactly that, it's enough.
