Jetour T2 2024 - start from 343 AED / day

There's a 245 hp turbo under the boxy bodywork of the Jetour T2 2024, and that's the first thing worth knowing before you rent one in Dubai. We deliver it to your door in 1 to 2 hours with a no-deposit option, so you can have a midsize SUV with real pace outside your building without freezing a chunk of your card. The T2 is a five-seat AWD SUV that looks like a desert tool and drives quicker than the look suggests. Our argument here is straightforward: rent it when you want a roomy, fast-feeling family SUV at a rate well under the established names, and go in clear-eyed about the fuel it drinks for that performance.

The engine is the surprise

Most SUVs at this price feel underpowered the moment you ask for an overtake. The T2 doesn't. The 2.0-litre turbo makes 245 hp and around 390 Nm, sent through an automatic and an all-wheel-drive system, and it'll do 0 to 100 in 8.7 seconds with a 185 km/h top speed. In real terms that means merging onto Sheikh Zayed Road is effortless, and pulling past a slow lorry on the E11 needs a flex of your foot rather than a run-up. For a midsize family SUV, that's genuinely brisk, and it changes how the car feels day to day.

The AWD is the modern kind that shuffles power to a wheel when it slips, not a low-range setup with a locking diff. On wet roundabouts and the odd graded track it adds grip and confidence. It is not a dune weapon, and I'll be honest about that below.

Space for the family and the luggage

The cabin is where the T2 quietly out-punches its rate. Two adults up front and three across the back travel comfortably, and the boot is the standout at 752 litres. That's a family-of-four airport haul with room to spare: two large cases, a couple of soft bags, and the day's shopping go in without folding a seat. For a DXB or DWC pickup with the whole family and a week's luggage, you're not playing kerbside Tetris.

Fold the rear seats and it turns into a van for a flat-pack run or a bulky pram plus the weekend gear. If your week is mall trips, beach days, and ferrying kids, the space does real work.

Fuel, and what the performance costs you

The 70-litre tank is the saving grace, because the turbo isn't shy at the pump. Lean on that 245 hp in Dubai's stop-start traffic with the AC fighting 45-degree heat and you'll see real-world economy nearer 11 km/L than any showroom claim. The big tank still stretches a normal city week plus a couple of out-of-town runs into roughly one fill. Top up before a long Hatta or west-coast day and you won't think about fuel again until you're home. If sipping fuel is the priority, a smaller SUV or a sedan beats it easily. You pay for the engine and the AWD in litres, and that's a fair trade only if you want what they give.

Heat, parking and the Dubai rules

Park a dark SUV in July and the cabin bakes, so give the AC a few minutes with the fans up before the back row feels it. The T2 pulls a hot interior down at a reasonable pace, helped by rear vents that keep kids from cooking on the school run. Crack the windows for the first thirty seconds to dump the worst of the heat and it copes well after that.

It's a wide car at just over two metres across the mirrors, so older Marina towers and tight mall basements ask for the cameras and a slow turn. The bays fit it. The upside is 220 mm of ground clearance, which makes speed bumps, raised community entrances, and steep mall ramps a non-event. A couple of standing rules: Salik tolls run on your account through the rental, and any RTA fines during the booking pass to you, so watch the cameras on the E11. Seat belts are required in every seat, and under-fours need a child seat, which we can fit on request.

How far off-road it really goes

The looks write a cheque the hardware only partly cashes. On hard-packed trails, graded desert tracks, and the easy route into Hatta or around Al Qudra, the clearance and AWD handle themselves well. Light gravel and tarmac broken by sand are no problem.

Soft dune bashing is a different sport. That wants a body-on-frame 4x4 with low range, recovery points, and tyres aired down, and the T2 isn't built for it. Take it deep into the dunes and you'll get stuck like anyone else. Treat it as a confident soft-roader that looks tougher than its job, and it'll never let you down.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Jetour T2 2024 if you want a fast-feeling, spacious AWD SUV for city life, airport runs, and the occasional light trail, at a rate that undercuts the familiar badges. For a family that values the engine, the 752-litre boot, and the high seating position, it's a lot of SUV for the money, and the doorstep handover keeps it simple.

Skip it if you're chasing real dune capability, where a Wrangler or Land Cruiser earns its keep, or if low fuel cost is your main concern. The T2 is the value-and-pace play, not the frugal one or the heritage one. For most people renting a week in Dubai, that trade lands in their favour.
