The Jeep Cherokee 2025 is the easygoing, four-cylinder version of Jeep's midsize SUV, and it rents in Dubai from age 18 when most desks here make you wait until 21. This is the 2.4-litre, 180 hp car with front-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox, which tells you most of what you need to know about it. It's built for the school run, the mall, and the airport hop, not for the dunes. Our argument is straightforward: if you want the higher seating and easy comfort of a Cherokee but you don't want the thirst of the V6, this is the one to take. We'll be honest about where it runs out of road.
The four-cylinder is the whole point of this car over its V6 sibling. The 2.4-litre returns roughly 9 to 9.5 litres per 100 km in mixed Dubai driving, and a heavy week of city crawling with the AC fighting 45-degree heat will nudge that higher. With a 60-litre tank, that's a real-world range comfortably past 600 km on a fill. A normal week of errands and a couple of airport runs means filling up maybe once.
That's the trade you're making. The 180 hp four-cylinder won't shove you back in the seat the way the Pentastar V6 does, and 0 to 100 takes about 9.1 seconds, which is fine rather than quick. For daily Dubai use you rarely notice. You notice the fuel bill, and this engine is the kinder one.

At highway speed the Cherokee is a relaxed cruiser. It sits a bit taller than the traffic, the cabin stays settled at 120, and the four-cylinder has enough mid-range to complete an overtake on the E11 if you plan it rather than stamp on it. For DXB and DWC airport runs it's quiet and comfortable, which is what you want at the end of a flight.
Around town the front-wheel-drive layout and light steering make it easy to place. At 4.6 metres long and 1.85 wide it isn't small, so tight multi-storey bays and the steep Marina ramps still want a bit of care, but the high seating helps you judge the corners. The clearance handles Dubai speed bumps and mall ramp lips without scraping. One thing to be clear on: this is front-wheel drive, so it's a paved-road SUV. For soft sand or a proper desert track you want a body-on-frame 4x4, not this.
Five seats, and they're usable ones. Two adults up front sit high with a clear view, and the back row takes three kids or two adults without complaint on a normal trip. The boot is one of the Cherokee's genuine strengths. It swallows the weekly shop easily, and for an airport pickup it takes two large cases plus soft bags without folding a thing. Drop the rear seats and it opens into a long, flat load bay for flat-pack furniture or sports kit.
The honest caveat is the seat count. It's a five-seater, full stop. Carrying six or seven people means you've got the wrong car and should size up to a three-row SUV. For a couple or a small family, the room is right.
From May to September this matters more than any spec on the sheet. Parked in the sun, the Cherokee's cabin gets brutally hot like everything else here, so the real question is recovery. The mid-sized cabin pulls down to comfortable within a few minutes of driving rather than struggling the whole way home. Front vents hit hard, and the rear passengers get their own air, which is what saves the afternoon when there are kids strapped in behind you. Park in the shade where you can and the first two minutes are far kinder.
Salik tolls are charged to you as you pass the gantries, and any RTA fines during the rental are yours as well. Seat belts are required in every seat, and a child seat is mandatory for under-fours, which we can fit on request. None of this is unusual for Dubai, but it's worth knowing before you set off.
Rent the Cherokee 2025 if you want a comfortable, higher-riding SUV for a Dubai week of city driving, highway cruising and airport runs, and you'd rather have sensible fuel bills than V6 muscle. The rent-from-18 option helps if younger drivers are sharing the keys. As a paved-road family SUV with a big boot, it does the job well.
Pick the V6 Cherokee instead if you want real pace and easy overtaking power and don't mind paying for it at the pump. Pick a proper 4x4 if your weekend involves soft sand or dune driving, since this front-wheel-drive car isn't built for it. And if six or seven seats is the requirement, size up to a three-row SUV. For a couple or a small family who mostly stay on the tarmac, this is the sensible Cherokee to take.
