Jac S3 2025 - start from 181 AED / day

We bring the JAC S3 2025 to wherever you are in Dubai, usually inside one to two hours, and you can take it on the no-deposit option with a debit card if you would rather not have a chunk of money frozen for a week. On a car at this price, that combination settles most bookings before the specs come into it. What it does not settle is whether the S3 fits your trip. That comes down to load: how many people are in it, what they are carrying, and how far the three of those things have to travel together.

Who is in it and what they are carrying

Five seats, and behind them a 600-litre boot, which is a lot of car for the money in a body this short. Two people on a week's holiday will not come close to filling it, since two large cases go in flat with the parcel shelf still on. A family of four is where it starts earning its money: pram, shopping and the folding chairs somebody insisted on bringing, all in at once instead of riding on laps. Fold the 60:40 bench and you have roughly 1,100 litres of flat floor, enough for a flat-pack run or a bike with the front wheel off.

The passengers are the tighter half of the equation. The wheelbase is 2,560 mm, which is short, so two adults in the back are fine for a run across town and kids are fine anywhere. Three across the rear bench works for a hop to dinner and stops being fun somewhere on the way to Abu Dhabi. There is a proper three-point belt in the middle seat and ISOFIX points either side, and anyone under four legally needs a child seat, so tell us at booking and it goes in the car before it leaves us.

What a week in it actually costs you

JAC does not publish a combined consumption figure for the UAE car. UAE listings put it near 5.9 L/100 km, and against a 45-litre tank that reads as something around 760 km. Loaded, in real city traffic, with the air conditioning working hard, plan on 7 to 8 instead. Even at that it is one fill in a normal week.

The rate includes 300 km a day, and anything past that runs at AED 0.5 per kilometre. A week of school runs, mall trips and a couple of airport hops does not get near the limit. Daily drives out to Abu Dhabi or Fujairah will, so do that maths before you book rather than at the end. Two other costs sit with you rather than us. Salik charges as you pass under the gantries, and any RTA fine raised during the rental passes through to you.

Bays, ramps and the first five minutes of cooling

At 4,345 mm long and 1,765 mm wide with a turning circle inside 5.5 metres, the S3 drops into Marina bays and the old tight mall spirals without a three-point shuffle. You sit high, the glass is deep, and you can see the kerb, which is why nervous drivers get comfortable in this car quickly. Rear sensors and a reverse camera cover what the mirrors miss. Ground clearance is quoted at 155 mm at full load, so speed bumps and steep ramp lips are not a problem even with the boot packed.

The SUV badge ends there. It is front-wheel drive on road tyres, so soft sand and rough tracks are out, whatever the ride height suggests.

Cooling is the honest weakness, and it matters if you have chosen this car for the family load it takes. The S3 runs a single front air conditioning system with no rear outlets. Park it in the open at midday in August and the front vents will bring things back to bearable within a few minutes of moving, faster if you drop the windows for the first stretch. The back seats lag behind by a noticeable margin, and with kids in child seats behind you that lag is worth planning around. Start the car and let it run for two minutes before you load anybody in.

Once the load is aboard and the road opens up

The engine is a 1,590 cc naturally aspirated four, 118 hp, with its 150 Nm arriving between 3,500 and 4,500 rpm. That is a naturally aspirated way of saying you have to rev it. Empty and around town, nobody notices. Five up with a full boot on a slip road onto Sheikh Zayed Road, everybody notices. Zero to 100 takes about 11.5 seconds unladen and rather more than that loaded.

Once it is up to speed the S3 holds 120 without complaint. The CVT is smooth in stop-and-go traffic, which is most of what you will do here, but ask for a hard overtake and the revs flare and hold while the car gathers itself. At 1,275 kg with a tall body it also moves around more in a crosswind than a low sedan does.

Who should take the S3

Book it if your Dubai week is cargo-heavy and city-centred: a couple with a lot of luggage, a small family who want the height and the boot without the SUV rate, or anybody who would rather have the car delivered and nothing held on their card. On that brief the S3 is one of the better-value keys we hand over, and the 600 litres is doing most of the work.

Look elsewhere in two cases. If you regularly carry four adults through a Dubai summer, the missing rear vents will come up in conversation, and something like an MG ZS or a Chery Tiggo 4 gives you a better-finished cabin and rear airflow for a modest step up in price. And if most of your week is long fast stretches between emirates with the car full, the engine is the wrong tool and you should be in a sedan. The S3 earns its money carrying things around a city. Ask it to do that and it is hard to beat at the price.
