Jac Js4 2025 - start from 194 AED / day

Renters who've just turned 18 usually get turned away at most Dubai desks, where the booking screen quietly demands 21 or even 25. We hand the JAC JS4 2025 to drivers from 18, and it's one of the cheaper ways to put a brand-new crossover on your driveway for the week. This is the current shape of the JS4: a small SUV with a raised seat, a big touchscreen, and looks that pass for a car costing far more. The question worth answering before you book is simple. Does a value-badge crossover make sense for your week here, or should the money go toward a small SUV with a longer track record?

What you're actually renting

The JS4 is a compact crossover, five seats, front-wheel drive, with a 1.6-litre automatic putting out 109 horsepower. That last number is the honest part of this car. It's enough to keep up with traffic and merge onto Sheikh Zayed Road without drama, but it isn't quick, and a full load of passengers and bags will dull it further. Treat it as a comfortable city runabout that happens to sit higher than a hatchback, not as something you'll enjoy pushing.

What you get for the rate is the modern bit. The cabin looks current, the screen is large, and the higher seating gives you a clearer view over Dubai traffic than any economy hatch. For solo drivers, couples, and small families doing mall runs, school drop-offs, and the odd airport collection, that combination covers most of what a week here demands.

Heat, AC and the parked-cabin problem

Every rental decision in a Dubai summer runs through one question: how fast does the cabin cool after the car's been baking in a car park. The JS4's cabin is moderate in size, so the air conditioning doesn't have an enormous volume to fight. Expect the front vents to take the worst edge off within a couple of minutes and a usable temperature a few minutes after that, which is normal for this class. Park in shade where you can and crack the windows for the first thirty seconds to dump the trapped heat. Rear passengers are the weak point in most cars this size, so confirm with us at handover whether your unit has rear vents before you plan long trips with kids in the back.

Does my luggage fit

The boot is 520 litres, which is generous for the segment and one of the JS4's stronger cards. In practice that's two large suitcases plus a couple of soft bags with room to spare, or a full week's grocery and mall haul without folding anything down. Drop the rear seats and it opens right up for flat-pack furniture or a bike. For a DXB or DWC airport run with a family and their cases, this is one of the few cars at this price that won't have you playing luggage Tetris on the kerb.

Parking, ramps and speed bumps

At just over 4.4 metres long, the JS4 slots into Marina and mall bays without the fuss a full-size SUV brings. The light steering makes tight multi-storey turns easy, and the higher seat helps you judge the corners. Ground clearance is 202 millimetres, which is plenty for Dubai's aggressive speed bumps and the steep ramps at older Marina towers. You won't scrape on a sharp driveway lip, and the raised ride means you're not flinching at every hump on the school run. This is genuinely easier to live with in the city than a low sedan.

Running it on Dubai roads

Around town the JS4 is in its element. The automatic shuffles through traffic smoothly and the visibility makes lane changes painless. On the highway it cruises fine at the limit, but the 109-hp engine means overtaking at speed asks for planning rather than a quick stab of the throttle. For E11 runs to Abu Dhabi or back from DWC, it'll get you there in comfort as long as you're not in a hurry. Push it hard above 100 and you'll hear the engine working.

A couple of Dubai admin points worth knowing before you drive off. Salik tolls run on your account, so every gantry you pass through gets billed to the rental. Any RTA fines during your hire pass to you as well, so keep an eye on the speed cameras on Sheikh Zayed Road. Seatbelts are mandatory in every seat, and children under four need a proper child seat, which we can fit on request.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Book the JS4 if you want a new-looking, raised, easy-parking crossover for city errands and light airport duty, especially if you're under 21 and locked out elsewhere. For the rate, the screen, the boot and the high seat are real value, and the modest engine rarely matters at city speeds.

Skip it if performance or long-term brand reassurance drives your choice. JAC is a value badge, and the JS4 drives like one once you ask for speed. If you'll spend most of the week on the highway, carry four adults regularly, or simply want the resale-grade familiarity of a Hyundai Creta or Kia Seltos, those established small crossovers are worth the small step up. For everyone whose week is mostly city miles on a tight budget, the JS4 does the job without pretending to be more than it is.
