Jac Js4 2025 - start from 196 AED / day

You never have to reach a rental counter before closing to rent a JAC JS4 2025 in Dubai. We bring the car to wherever you are, usually within an hour or two of the booking, take a debit card at handover, and can set it up with no deposit held against your account for the length of the hire. Keys go to drivers from 18 who have held a licence for twelve months, three years earlier than most desks here will consider. That covers the paperwork. What it does not settle is whether this is the right car for your week, and with the JS4 that comes down to a footprint question before anything else.

The bays it fits, and the one it will not

Start with height, because it is the dimension people forget until a barrier stops them. The JS4 stands 1,660 mm tall, so it goes under the two-metre bars on mall and residential basement entrances without anyone having to think about it. Renters who size up to a full-size SUV often find out the hard way that plenty of older Dubai buildings will not let them in at all, and the car ends up spending the week baking in an open surface lot.

Length is 4,410 mm on a 2,620 mm wheelbase, which leaves short overhangs, so a U-turn on an ordinary two-lane road is one clean movement instead of a shuffle. Width is 1,800 mm, and that is the number you feel. A modern mall bay is easy. The tight ones in older towers, drawn when cars were narrower, want a slower approach, and the 360-degree camera earns its keep there by showing you the painted line you cannot see past the door mirror.

One warning about the wheels. The JS4 runs 17-inch alloys with 215/50 tyres, and that sidewall is short enough that a kerb taken at an angle marks the rim rather than bouncing the tyre off it. Park it yourself where you have the choice. Ground clearance is quoted as a minimum of 150 mm at full load, which is the useful way to read it, because the steep ramp you are worried about is the one you take with five people and their luggage on board.

What 210 Nm in a light car feels like

The engine is a 1.5-litre turbo of 1,499 cc making 147 hp, with 210 Nm spread from 2,000 to 4,500 rpm, driving the front wheels through a CVT. What decides how all that feels is the kerb weight of 1,365 kg. That is light for something this shape, and it means the turbo has an easy job in the situations you actually meet: pulling away from a signal, closing a gap, reaching the limit on a slip road when you have committed early.

Ask for more than that and the gearbox sets the terms. Sit at 120 on the E11, decide to pass a truck right now rather than building up to it, and you get a rise in engine noise a beat before you get the speed. Nothing is wrong with the car. It simply does not feel urgent, and anyone stepping out of a turbocharged European hatchback notices in the first ten minutes. Set the cruise control on a longer run and the same gearbox turns into an advantage, since there is no hunting between ratios on a gentle incline.

On fuel, JAC's UAE distributor publishes no combined consumption figure, and the numbers circulating on third-party sites disagree with each other too widely for us to quote one as fact. The tank holds 50 litres. From what we see across the fleet, a normal Dubai week of errands with an airport run in it goes by on a single fill.

You get 300 km a day included, with anything past that at AED 0.5 per kilometre, so a drive down to Abu Dhabi and back sits comfortably inside the allowance. Salik deducts at every gate you pass and comes back to you, as does any RTA fine raised while the car is yours. The drive layout deserves one blunt sentence: this sends power to the front wheels only, and no all-wheel-drive version is sold in this market. The ride height is there for speed bumps and ramps. Point it at soft sand and you will be waiting for somebody with a rope.

Getting into it after an afternoon in the sun

The JS4 has a smart key with push button start, which is convenient at the door and no use at all from your apartment. You cannot set it running and let the air conditioning work while you ride the lift down, so the first two minutes of a July afternoon are always going to be spent inside a hot car. Plan around that and the rest is manageable.

The seats are trimmed in imitation leather, and after a few hours in an uncovered bay that surface is properly hot against the back of your legs, more so than cloth would be. The steering wheel rim is the same story. A windscreen shade costs almost nothing and does more for those first minutes than anything on the dashboard. Once you are moving, the automatic air conditioning pulls the front of the cabin down quickly, and there are rear air outlets, which is the detail to note if someone rides in the back every day. Cars at this rate often leave the rear bench to whatever cold air drifts back on its own.

Two reasons to book something else

The first is a week built around long, fast inter-emirate driving. The CVT and the modest power output will wear on you by day three, and a mid-size saloon covers those kilometres with less effort for not much more money. The second is any plan that involves sand or a graded desert track, which this car cannot do at all, whatever its stance suggests.

Outside those two, it does more than the rate implies. City driving with a school gate in it, a family of four who want a raised seat and a 520-litre boot, a visitor who would rather have a car waiting outside the building than a queue at an airport desk. The equipment list is the genuine surprise here, since a 360-degree camera, rear sensors, cruise control, ISOFIX points and Apple CarPlay are not standard fare at this end of the price list. Book the JS4 as a well-equipped city SUV that copes with the occasional longer run and it will not let you down. The trouble only starts when someone rents it expecting a highway car.
