Somewhere between a hatchback that cannot swallow the luggage and a mid-size SUV that costs half again as much sits the car most Dubai weeks are actually shaped for. Rent a JAC JS4 2025 in Dubai and that is the slot you are filling. Every hire runs on 300 km a day included, which is many times what a week of school gates, supermarket trips and one airport collection ever uses, so the meter stops being something you plan around. The case for this car rests on two things: what it costs to keep moving, and how much it holds. Both hold up, as long as your week stays inside the city.
The tank holds 50 litres. We are not going to pair that with a consumption figure, because JAC's UAE material publishes none and the third-party numbers circulating for the JS4 disagree with each other by a margin that makes every one of them useless for a budget. Quoting one would be inventing certainty we do not have.
What the fleet tells us is more useful anyway. A typical city week, meaning errands, a couple of cross-town evenings and a run to the airport, goes by on a single fill. Start commuting to Abu Dhabi daily and you are at the pump twice. That is the whole fuel story, and for a 1,365 kg car with a small turbo engine it is unremarkable in the way you want it to be.
The costs that surprise people are the other two. Salik deducts every time you pass under a gate, and those charges come back to you rather than to us, so a week of crossing Sheikh Zayed Road twice a day adds up quietly. Any RTA fine issued while the car is in your name passes through the same way. Mileage is the one you can forget about: 300 km a day is generous for city use, and anything beyond it is AED 0.5 per kilometre rather than a penalty rate.

520 litres behind the rear seats is the number that justifies stepping up from a small automatic. In practice that is two large hard cases upright with space alongside for soft bags, or a pram and a full weekly shop without anyone lifting the parcel shelf. Fold the 60:40 bench and you are near 1,050 litres, enough for flat-pack furniture or the boxes that come with a new apartment.
The passenger side of it is decent rather than luxurious. A 2,620 mm wheelbase gives adults real legroom in the back, though at 1,800 mm wide the bench takes three grown adults only for a short hop. Two child seats and one adult is the honest configuration, and the ISOFIX points are fitted for it. Children under four need a proper seat by law here, and we install it before delivery if you tell us the ages when you book.
Size works in your favour when you park. At 4,410 mm long the JS4 is shorter than most things with this much boot, and the 360-degree camera plus rear sensors mean you place the corners on a screen instead of guessing at them in a tight older basement. JAC quotes a minimum 150 mm of ground clearance measured at full load, which clears community speed bumps and steep mall ramps without contact. Read that clearance for what it is, though. This car drives its front wheels only, and no four-wheel-drive version has ever been sold in this market, so the ride height is bodywork rather than capability. Take it onto soft sand and you will be calling someone with a rope.
Park anything with this much glass in an open bay through a summer afternoon and it comes back to you at oven temperature. The JS4 is no exception, and no car at this money is. What separates it from most of its price bracket is where the cold air arrives. The air conditioning is automatic and there are rear air outlets, which plenty of economy SUVs still leave off the list. With a child seat behind the driver in August, air reaching the back row directly instead of drifting through from the dashboard changes the mood of the whole journey.
Physics still applies. Drop the windows for the first thirty seconds to push the trapped air out, run the fan hard, and the cabin is genuinely comfortable two or three minutes into the drive. Use a basement bay whenever the building has one.
Book the JS4 if your driving is city-shaped and your luggage is not. Families kitting out an apartment, couples who pack properly, anyone who wants SUV height and a big boot without paying mid-size money: this is a sensible week's car, and one of the few we can hand to a driver of 18 with a year of licence behind them.
Three situations should point you elsewhere. If five adults are travelling with cases, the JS4 is a five-seater that works properly as a four-seater, and a larger SUV is the honest answer. If most of your kilometres are highway, the CVT is the weak link, because asking for a decisive overtake at 120 sends the revs up well before the speed follows and a conventional automatic will suit you better. And if there is a dune camp on the itinerary, book a real 4x4 and leave this one on the tarmac where it is good.
