Jac Js4 2024 - start from 175 AED / day

We deliver the JAC JS4 2024 to your door in Dubai inside one to two hours, which is the easiest way to test a compact crossover most renters have never sat in. The badge is unfamiliar, the price is low, and the question that follows is fair: is a cheaper crossover worth it over a known name? For a family that wants a higher seat, a real boot and modern kit without paying Toyota or Nissan money, the JS4 makes a strong case. On a rental it makes an even stronger one, because the things people worry about with a new brand, resale and long-term reliability, never touch the person renting it for a week.

What you actually get for the money

The JS4 is a five-seat petrol SUV running a 1.5-litre turbo through a CVT automatic to the front wheels. On paper it puts out 147 hp, which is more than the small-engine economy crossovers it undercuts on price. In Dubai that turbo matters most off the line and on slip roads, where it pulls cleanly up to traffic speed without the strain you feel in a non-turbo 1.5.

Inside, the kit is the surprise. A large central touchscreen, a digital driver display, a reversing camera and decent seat space for the price put it ahead of where a budget badge usually sits. Nobody hands you a JS4 and feels short-changed on screens or comfort, and for a family used to a base-trim Japanese rental, it often feels like a step up.

Does my luggage and family fit

This is where the JS4 earns its keep. The 520-litre boot is genuinely useful, not a token cargo slot. Two large suitcases plus a couple of soft bags go in without folding the rear seats, so a family of four heading to the airport for a week away is covered. Drop the back seats and you have flat space for a stroller, a cooler and a weekend's shopping at once.

Up front and in the rear, three adults across the back is fine for a 20-minute run across town and tight for an hour to Abu Dhabi. Two adults and two kids is the sweet spot, and child seats clip in easily for the under-fours the RTA requires them for. If you regularly carry five adults plus all their luggage, this is the moment to size up to a mid-size SUV instead.

Heat, AC and life at 45 degrees

A parked JS4 in July gets brutal, same as anything else here. The good news is the cabin is compact enough that the air conditioning pulls it down quickly once you're moving, usually within a few minutes from a baking start. Front vents are strong. There are no dedicated rear vents in the back of the centre console on this trim, so rear passengers rely on airflow reaching them, which is fine in a cabin this size but worth knowing if you're carrying kids on long midday drives. Park in shade where you can and the first two minutes are far less of an ordeal.

Parking, speed bumps and the daily grind

At 4.41 metres long the JS4 slots into Marina and mall bays without drama, and the reversing camera takes the guesswork out of tight multi-storey spots. The light steering makes U-turns and supermarket car parks easy. With 202 mm of ground clearance it clears Dubai's aggressive speed bumps and steep mall ramps without scraping, which is more margin than a low hatchback gives you. That clearance is for confidence on tarmac, not for the dunes. This is a front-drive crossover with no four-wheel-drive option, so keep it on the road and leave Hatta trails and soft sand to a proper 4x4.

Highway, Salik and refuelling

On Sheikh Zayed Road the JS4 cruises at 120 happily enough. The turbo gives you a usable shove for overtaking, though push it hard above 120 and the CVT lets the engine drone, and you feel that you're in a value crossover rather than a quiet, planted one. For airport hops to DXB or the longer pull out to DWC it's perfectly comfortable. Keep your expectations honest on long fast stretches and it won't disappoint you.

The 55-litre tank is generous for the class. Around town with the AC running flat out you'll realistically see roughly 8 litres per 100 km, which puts a real-world range comfortably past 600 km on a tank. For most renters that means filling up once in a normal week. Petrol is cheap here, so the running cost stays low. Remember the JS4 has a Salik tag and every toll, plus any RTA fines, passes to you, the renter, so the usual Dubai rules apply.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the JS4 if you're a value-minded renter or a family who wants the higher seating, the big boot and the modern screens of a crossover at the lowest sensible price, and you don't care that the badge is new to you. For a week's rental the brand's unfamiliarity costs you nothing, and the kit and space cost you a lot less than the established names.

Skip it if you want the reassurance of a Toyota or Hyundai badge for a long booking, or if you regularly need to seat five adults with full luggage, where a mid-size SUV makes more sense. And if your week involves real desert driving, this front-drive crossover isn't the tool. For everyone else doing school runs, mall trips, airport pickups and the occasional highway stretch, the JS4 is one of the best-value family crossovers we can put on your driveway.
