If you want the cheapest sensible automatic crossover for a week in Dubai, the Hyundai Venue 2023 is hard to argue with, and we'll rent it to you with a no-deposit option so the booking doesn't tie up your card. It's the smallest SUV Hyundai makes, which is exactly the point: economy-car running costs, a high seat, and a footprint that parks anywhere. Our take is straightforward. For a single driver or a couple doing city miles and the odd airport hop, this is one of the easiest, least expensive cars to live with that still gives you the raised crossover view. Where it stops making sense is four adults and real luggage, and we'll mark that line clearly below.
The Venue's strongest card is how little it asks of you over a week. The 1.6-litre petrol returns around 7 litres per 100 km in mixed Dubai driving, and the 45-litre tank gives roughly 600 km between fills. For a normal week of errands and commuting that's usually one trip to the station, occasionally two if you're crossing town every day. Add cheap petrol by global standards and the fuel bill barely registers.
The 121 hp engine drives the front wheels through an automatic, and around town that's all you need. It pulls away cleanly and sits happily at city speeds without feeling strained. The automatic also makes the Venue painless in the stop-and-go that defines a Dubai commute, where a manual would just wear out your left leg.

Treat the table as reference. The figures that decide your week are the boot, the economy and the clearance, and each gets a fuller read below.
Just over four metres long, the Venue slips into bays that a Creta or Tucson would wrestle with, and the tight turning circle makes Marina basement ramps and mall U-turns easy rather than tense. The 170 mm of clearance handles Dubai's speed bumps and the lips at mall entrances without scraping, and you sit high enough to read the traffic better than you would in a small hatch. For city driving where parking is half the battle, this is the car's real talent. You won't circle a car park hunting for a space wide enough, and you won't wince at every hump.
Two adults up front have no complaints on room. The rear is where the small footprint shows. Two passengers fit behind two average-height front seats, but legroom is snug, and a fifth person across the back is a short-trip arrangement rather than a comfortable one.
The boot holds roughly 350 litres with the seats up, which in practice is one large suitcase plus a soft bag, or a couple of cabin cases and the week's shopping. A couple flying out of DXB or DWC with a case each will be fine. Bring a third traveller with luggage and you're folding part of the rear seat or stacking bags on a lap. If your trip is four adults and full airport cases, this is the moment to step up to a Creta.
A small cabin has one summer advantage: there's less air to cool. After the Venue's sat in an open lot, the front vents pull the temperature down fast, quicker than a larger SUV manages, and within a few minutes the front is comfortable. The honest caveat is the back. There are no dedicated rear vents, so back-seat passengers wait longer for the cold to reach them. For one or two people up front the Venue copes well with the worst of July, but load the rear with kids and you'll want the fan high and the cool-down started before they get in.
The Venue cruises happily on the E11 at the legal limit and holds 100 to 120 km/h without stress. Be realistic about overtaking, though. With 121 hp and a small petrol engine, slipping past a slow truck in the fast lane takes a moment of planning rather than a quick stab of the throttle. It gets there; it just isn't eager. There's no all-wheel drive either, so the Venue is a road car only. Soft sand, dune tracks and runs into Hatta are out, and the raised seat is for visibility and speed bumps, not for leaving the tarmac.
One operational note: Salik tolls are billed to the renter as you pass the gantries, and any RTA fine during the rental passes to you as well. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat. None of that is unique to the Venue, but it's worth knowing on a route that crosses a few toll points.
Rent the Venue 2023 if you're one or two people who want a small, cheap, easy SUV for Dubai city life: errands, the daily commute, light airport runs, and parking you never have to think about. It hands you the higher view and crossover stance without the bulk or the running cost of something bigger.
Look elsewhere if you regularly carry four adults, travel with a full set of large cases, or want to get off the road into the desert. For families and luggage the Creta is the natural step up. For everyone else who just wants a painless, low-cost SUV in the city, the Venue is one of the simplest cars on the lot to run for a week.
