Hyundai Venue 2022 - start from 158 AED / day

We hand over the Hyundai Venue 2022 across Dubai with 250 km a day already built into the rental, which is more road than most people use in a week of errands and the odd airport run. The Venue is Hyundai's smallest SUV, so what you're really renting is a high seat and crossover looks on an economy budget. That trade is the whole point of this page. It sits taller than a hatchback, parks like one, and asks very little of your fuel card. The catch is that it stays a small car underneath, and for some renters a Creta makes more sense. Here's how to tell which camp you're in.

What you actually get for the money

The Venue gives you the driving position people rent an SUV for. You sit up, you see over the next car in traffic, and the bonnet line makes judging a tight Marina bay easy. The 1.6-litre engine puts out 121 horsepower through the front wheels with an automatic gearbox, which is plenty for a car this size around town.

Where it stays honest is the badge. This is front-wheel-drive only, with no AWD and no low-range, so treat "SUV" as a shape and a seating height rather than a promise of sand or trails. On tarmac that's fine. The ground clearance, around 190 mm, clears Dubai's speed bumps and the steeper mall ramps without the scrape you get in a low sedan, and that's the practical benefit most renters feel day to day.

Parking and city manoeuvres

This is the Venue's strongest argument. At just under four metres long it's shorter than most sedans, so the tight bays in older Deira buildings and the corkscrew ramps under the malls stop being a problem. U-turns on a two-lane road take one bite, not three. The high seat that helps you place the nose into a gap is the same one that makes the Venue feel bigger than it is from the driver's chair.

If your week is school runs, grocery hauls, and getting in and out of multi-storey car parks, the Venue is genuinely easy. You won't be the driver holding up the queue at the barrier while you straighten up.

Heat and the AC

Dubai summers push past 45°C, and a car that's been parked in it is an oven. The Venue's small cabin is an advantage here. There's less air to chill, so the AC drops the temperature faster than it would in a big SUV, and within a few minutes the front vents have it comfortable. Park in shade when you can and the first blast is bearable rather than brutal. The cabin is compact enough that rear passengers get the cooled air without dedicated rear vents being a dealbreaker, which they would be in a larger car.

Does your luggage fit

The boot holds 350 litres, which sounds modest because it is. For two people it's right: one large suitcase plus a couple of soft bags, or a full weekly shop. For a DXB or DWC pickup with two travellers and their cases, it works if you pack normally and don't bring the hard-shell trunks. Drop the rear seats and the space opens up enough for a flat-pack run or a few weeks of moving boxes.

Where it gets tight is four adults with four cases. That's the line. If that's your trip, this is the wrong car and you should size up.

On Sheikh Zayed Road

The Venue cruises E11 fine at the legal limit. It's settled at 100 to 120 and the cabin stays quiet enough for a phone call. Be honest about what it isn't, though: with 121 hp and a 0 to 100 time of about 11 seconds, overtaking at higher speeds wants planning. You don't drop two gears and surge past a truck on a whim. For commuting and airport hops that's a non-issue. For someone who spends real time pushing on the open highway, the engine starts to feel its size.

The 45-litre tank and roughly 7.6 L/100 km combined give you close to 590 km of range, so a week of city driving is one fill, maybe two if you're doing daily long runs. That's the running cost most renters care about, and the Venue keeps it low.

Costs that pass to you

A few Dubai basics worth knowing before you take the keys. Salik tolls are on the renter, so every gantry you pass on SZR or the bridges gets billed to you. Any RTA fines during the rental are yours too, so watch the speed cameras. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat, and that's the lot for rules that catch people out.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Venue 2022 if you're a solo driver or a couple who want the higher view and the easy parking of a small SUV without paying SUV money. For city errands, a daily commute, and light airport runs with sensible luggage, it does everything you need and barely touches your fuel budget.

Skip it and book a Creta or a proper mid-size SUV if you're carrying four adults with full luggage, planning Hatta passes or any soft-sand driving, or you want a car that overtakes effortlessly at 140. The Venue is FWD with a small engine and a small boot, and it never pretends otherwise. Match it to the right week and it's one of the smarter cheap rentals in Dubai. Ask it to be a big SUV and it'll disappoint you.
