Hyundai TUCSON 2025 - start from 164 AED / day

Need a compact SUV that looks like it cost more than it rents for? We hand over the Hyundai Tucson 2025 at your door in Dubai, usually inside one to two hours of booking, so you can skip the rental-counter queue at the airport entirely. The Tucson is the bold, slightly futuristic family crossover with the hidden grille lights, twin wide screens and a back seat that actually fits adults. For a week split between city errands and Sheikh Zayed Road, it's one of the easier all-rounders to recommend. The catch worth knowing up front: the base car is front-wheel drive with a comfort-tuned 2.0L engine, so it's built for tarmac, not dunes.

Who this Tucson suits

Think of a couple or a small family doing the usual Dubai week: mall runs, a Hatta drive on paved roads, airport pickups, a few late dinners across town. The Tucson handles all of that without drama. The cabin feels a class above what you're paying, the seats are soft and supportive on a long E11 stretch, and visibility out front is good for a higher-riding car.

Where it stops making sense is the third row and the sand. There isn't a third row, so a regular group of six should look elsewhere. And the front-drive setup means this isn't the car for soft desert tracks. If your trip is genuinely off-road, you want a proper 4x4, not this.

The cabin, screens and that back seat

Inside is where the Tucson earns its keep. The dashboard runs two large displays side by side, the controls are clean, and the materials feel grown-up rather than budget. Four adults travel comfortably, and the rear seat reclines slightly, which matters on a 45-minute crawl up to the northern emirates.

Rear passengers get their own air vents, and that's not a small detail in this country. A back seat with no vents turns into an oven when you've parked in the sun. The Tucson's rear vents keep kids and rear passengers from cooking while the front gets all the cold air.

Boot space and luggage

The boot holds 540 litres with the seats up, which is generous for a compact SUV. In practical terms that's two large suitcases plus a couple of soft bags, or a full week of grocery and mall hauls without folding anything down. A DXB airport run for two people with check-in luggage fits easily, and you've still got room for the duty-free bags. Drop the rear seats and you've got near-estate-car space for flat-pack furniture or sports gear.

How the engine feels in Dubai traffic

The 2.0L makes 150 hp, and the tuning is relaxed rather than quick. Around town and at the school-run pace it's smooth and quiet, which is exactly what you want in stop-start traffic. On Sheikh Zayed Road it cruises at the limit without fuss and has enough in reserve for a confident overtake, though you'll feel it work if you load four adults and ask for a hard climb up a flyover. Nobody buys this engine for speed. They pick it because it's calm, refined and easy to live with, and on Dubai roads that's the right call most of the day.

Fuel, range and how often you'll fill up

Hyundai quotes optimistic economy figures, but the honest Dubai number for a 2.0L petrol SUV in mixed city and highway driving sits around 10 to 11 km per litre once the AC is fighting summer heat. With the 54-litre tank, that's roughly a 500 km usable range in real conditions. For most renters that means one fill-up covers two to three days of normal city use, and a single tank comfortably handles a DXB or DWC airport run plus a day trip without range worry.

Heat, AC and the parked-cabin problem

A Tucson left in an open mall lot in July gets brutally hot inside, same as any car here. The good news is the cabin isn't huge, so the AC pulls it down to bearable within a few minutes of driving rather than the long wait you get in a big seven-seater. Crack the windows for the first thirty seconds, set the fan high, and it cools fast. The rear vents mean the whole car gets cold, not just the driver.

Parking, speed bumps and city size

At 4.63 metres long it's a compact SUV, not a barge, so it slots into standard mall and Marina bays without the breath-holding you get in a full-size 4x4. The 192 mm of ground clearance clears Dubai's aggressive speed bumps and steep mall ramps cleanly, with none of the scraping a low sedan suffers. A reversing camera and the high driving position make tight multi-storey turns straightforward.

A couple of local notes worth stating plainly. Salik tolls run on the renter's account, and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you, so stick to posted limits on the E11. Child seats are mandatory for under-fours, and we can fit one if you ask when booking.

The verdict

The Hyundai Tucson 2025 is the smart middle pick for a Dubai week: roomy enough for a family of four and their luggage, comfortable on the highway, easy to park and cool down, and far nicer inside than its class suggests. Rent it if you want one car that does city, airport and paved day-trips well. If you need a real third row, size up to a Santa Fe instead. If it's just two of you on short city hops and watching the budget, a smaller crossover will do the same job for less. For everyone in between, this is the one to book.
