Hyundai TUCSON 2024 - start from 149 AED / day

You can book the Hyundai Tucson 2024 in Dubai without locking up a deposit, and we'll have it at your door in one to two hours, paid however suits you on the day, card, cash, Apple Pay or bank transfer. That low-friction booking matters because this compact SUV is the kind of car people rent for a full week of mixed errands rather than a single trip. The question this page settles is a practical one: does the Tucson have the space and the comfort for a family week here, and where does it run short. We rent the front-drive 2.0 automatic, and we'll be straight about what that engine does and doesn't give you.

Will your family and luggage actually fit

This is the first thing to get right, because the Tucson is sold on space and mostly delivers. The boot holds around 540 litres with the seats up, which swallows two large suitcases and a couple of soft bags, so a family flying into DXB loads everything in the back without anyone nursing a bag on their knees. Fold the rear seats and the floor opens up almost flat for a flat-pack run or a week's groceries.

It's a five-seater, and that's the limit you need to respect. Two adults up front and three kids across the back works for the school run. Two adults, two kids and a stack of airport cases is comfortable. The moment you need a sixth seat for grandparents, size up to a seven-seat SUV rather than squeezing in.

The engine, and how it copes on the highway

The 2.0-litre with 150 hp is the relaxed end of the range, and it suits how most renters use the car. Around town it moves five people without fuss, and the automatic shifts smoothly through stop-and-go on Al Wasl or Jumeirah Beach Road. On the E11 it cruises happily at 120, but a hard overtake with a full car wants planning, so build speed early and leave yourself room. For city life and airport runs this engine is plenty. If your week is fast highway driving with the car loaded, a turbo SUV will feel more willing.

Front-wheel drive makes this a road car. It's at home on tarmac and in mall basements, not on soft sand, so book a proper 4x4 if Hatta or the dunes are on the plan.

Fuel stops and the costs that fall to you

The 54-litre tank at roughly 8.5 L/100 km gives close to 600 km between fills, which is one fuel stop a week for most renters and sometimes none if you stay inside the city. Petrol is cheap here, so the Tucson costs little to keep moving. The running costs that are yours to watch are Salik tolls and any RTA fines, both billed to the renter, so mind the gantries on the way to the airport and the speed cameras along Sheikh Zayed Road. We include 250 km a day, with extra kilometres at 1 AED each, which is generous enough that a normal day of cross-town driving never has you watching the odometer.

Staying cool through a Dubai summer

Park anything in open sun in July and the cabin turns into an oven, and a bigger SUV like this takes a minute or two longer to cool than a small hatch. The Tucson handles it well once you're moving. The front vents push hard, and there are rear vents so kids strapped in behind you aren't left baking on a longer drive. Set it to recirculate, give it a couple of minutes after pickup, and it's comfortable before you've cleared the first lights. With children under four you'll need a child seat by law, which we can fit on request, and seat belts are required in every seat.

Parking and the daily manoeuvres

For an SUV the Tucson is easy to place. The reversing camera and sensors take the stress out of tight multi-storey bays and Marina parking, and the high seat gives a clear view over traffic. With 192 mm of clearance it rides over Dubai's tall speed bumps and steep mall ramps without scraping, yet it's still happy to swing through a U-turn. Nothing about the size makes daily driving a chore.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Tucson 2024 if you want a comfortable, good-looking family SUV with a big boot and modern cabin tech for a week of mall runs, beach days and airport pickups, and you're happy with a calm engine rather than a quick one. For two adults plus kids and a week's luggage, it's one of the smartest value bookings in its class, and the no-deposit option makes it painless to reserve.

Look elsewhere in two cases. If you'll regularly seat six or seven, take a seven-seat SUV instead of cramming people in. And if it's only you running quick errands into the tightest bays, a small hatchback is cheaper and easier to park. For the broad middle, the Tucson is an easy car to recommend.
