Hyundai TUCSON 2023 - start from 222 AED / day

Land at DXB with a full car and the Hyundai Tucson 2023 is the rental we reach for first, and we'll have it at your terminal or hotel in Dubai within one to two hours of you booking. It's a five-seat SUV with a boot big enough that nobody flies in only to ride home with a suitcase on their knees. That's the decision this page settles: whether the Tucson is the right car for a group arriving with luggage, or whether your numbers push you up to a seven-seater or down to something cheaper.

Luggage, the airport run, and what actually fits

Start with the boot, because that's what trips up most airport collections. The Tucson gives you around 540 litres behind the rear seats, which takes two large hard cases standing upright with room beside them for cabin bags and a pushchair. Four adults flying in with a big suitcase each will get everything in the back, and that's exactly where the smaller crossovers in this price band start asking someone to hold a bag on their lap. Fold the 60/40 rear seats and the floor opens out nearly flat for a flat-pack run or a bike. For a DXB or DWC pickup with the whole party and their cases, this is the size that works without a second thought.

It seats five, though, not seven. Three kids fit across the back for a school run or a beach trip. A sixth person, or grandparents joining a family of four, is where you should size up to a proper seven-seat SUV instead of forcing it.

Staying cool from the moment you collect it

A car that's been parked at the airport in July is an oven, and the first thing a tired family wants is cold air fast. The Tucson's cabin is large, so it takes a minute or two longer to pull down than a small hatch, but the front vents hit hard and there are rear vents, so kids strapped in behind you aren't left baking while the front cools first. Set it to recirculate, give it a minute or two before you load everyone in, and it's comfortable before you've cleared the airport ramps. For a summer rental with passengers in the back, those rear outlets matter more than any spec on the sheet.

How it drives once you're loaded

The 2.0-litre petrol makes 150 hp through a front-wheel-drive automatic, and that combination tells you how it behaves. Around town and on the school-run loop it's smooth and quiet, which is most of what a Dubai rental actually does. On Sheikh Zayed Road it cruises at 120 without strain. The one honest caveat is overtaking with a full car: the engine has to wind up before it pulls, so plan the move rather than stab the throttle. For calm distance covering it's plenty. If you want instant highway shove, a turbo crossover feels livelier, but you'd pay for it.

Front-wheel drive also means this is a road SUV, not a dune tool. It's happy on the E11, in mall basements and on the airport run, and we'd point you to a real 4x4 for soft sand or a Hatta trail.

Parking, ramps and the daily moves

At 4.63 metres the Tucson is a mid-size SUV, so a tight multi-storey bay or an older Marina ramp asks for a bit more care than a hatchback. The reversing camera and sensors make it manageable, and the high seating gives you a clear view over traffic that you don't get in a sedan. The 192 mm of ground clearance is the quiet daily win: community speed bumps, raised car-park entries and steep mall ramps that scrape a low car are a non-issue here.

Fuel and the running costs that fall to you

The 54-litre tank paired with roughly 8 to 9 L/100 km in real Dubai driving gives you close to 600 km between fills. For most renters that's one stop across a week, maybe two if you're doing daily airport runs. Fuel here is cheap, so the Tucson rarely shows up as a real cost. Salik tolls and any RTA fines pass to you as the renter, so watch the gates and the cameras. Seat belts are required in every seat, and children under four need a child seat, which we can fit on request.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Tucson 2023 if you're a couple or a family of up to five arriving with luggage and you want SUV space, a high seating position and a boot that handles an airport collection without drama. It's the comfortable middle of the range: more car than a hatch, easier to park and cheaper to run than a full-size 4x4.

Size up to a seven-seater if you're regularly carrying six or more. Drop to a hatchback if it's just one or two of you running light around the city and parking in the tightest bays. For everyone landing with bags and a family in tow, this is the one we'd hand you the keys to.
