Hyundai Tucson 2023 - start from 223 AED / day

A Hyundai Tucson 2023 rental in Dubai suits a week you don't want to spend thinking about the car. It's a mid-size SUV with a naturally aspirated engine, an automatic gearbox that shifts the same way every time, and a boot built for real luggage, not a squeeze. We deliver it to your door in one to two hours, so the rental starts without a counter visit eating into your first day. Two hundred and fifty kilometres a day covers normal Dubai driving with room left over. What this page settles is whether that steady, no-surprises case for a mid-size SUV suits your week, or whether you're paying for space you won't use.

What's under the bonnet, and how it drives

This Tucson runs Hyundai's 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four, badged Nu MPI, making 156 hp and 192 Nm through a six-speed torque-converter automatic that sends power to the front wheels only. There's no turbo lag to manage and no hybrid system to learn, so the car drives the same way on day one as it does on day seven. Around town it pulls away smoothly, and the gearbox doesn't hunt between ratios in stop-start traffic, which matters more on a rental than outright pace does. On Sheikh Zayed Road it settles into a calm, quiet cruise once you're at speed, though a loaded car overtaking on an uphill ramp wants more lead time than a turbocharged rival would need. None of that is exciting, and it isn't trying to be. A naturally aspirated engine and a well-mapped automatic that behave the same way every time you start the car is the whole appeal of a dependable default.

Boot, back seat and the daily load

At about 540 litres with the second row up, the boot handles more than most weeks throw at it. A big grocery run, a stroller, gym bags and a couple of hold suitcases all fit without stacking anything on the back seat, and folding the bench down turns the Tucson into something that can carry flat-pack furniture or a bike home from the shop. It's a genuine step up from a compact crossover's boot, which is why families cross-shop the two before booking.

The back seat carries its own case for the car. Two adults sit with proper knee room, and three kids go across the bench without one of them being squeezed into the middle, which is where a smaller SUV starts to show its limits on a long drive. If you're bringing a child seat, the outer ISOFIX points make fitting one straightforward, and UAE law requires a proper seat for any child under four regardless of which car you book.

Size shows up at the kerb too. At 4.5 metres long and 1.87 wide, the Tucson takes a bit more care in a tight basement bay or a narrow tower ramp than a smaller car would, and the reversing camera earns its keep there. Ground clearance of 181 mm shrugs off the speed bumps in most residential compounds and the ramp into a mall car park without you slowing to a crawl. It won't do more than that. This is a front-wheel-drive Tucson on road tyres, built for asphalt, so save any run toward Hatta's dirt tracks for a car with proper off-road hardware.

Running cost, heat and the cabin

Official combined fuel economy is 8.8 litres per 100 km. Add Dubai's stop-start traffic and the air conditioning working non-stop through summer, and real-world consumption runs closer to 10 or 11. The 54-litre tank still stretches to roughly 500 to 550 km of city driving on a fill, so most weeks mean a single stop at the pump.

Mileage on this Tucson is 250 km a day, which covers the school run, a mall trip or two and an evening out with plenty to spare, and anything past that costs AED 0.5 a kilometre, a modest rate if a longer drive does come up. Salik tolls and any RTA fines are the renter's responsibility, standard across the fleet, and you'll need to be 25 or older to collect the keys.

Cabin cooling is where a mid-size SUV asks a bit more patience than a small hatchback. Left in the sun for a few hours in July or August, there's simply more air inside to pull down, so the first couple of minutes after you climb back in feel warmer than you'd like. The front vents catch up fast once the car is moving, and rear vents on the back of the centre console mean kids in the second row aren't waiting on air that has to travel the length of the cabin. Parking in shade when you can shortens that first uncomfortable stretch more than anything else will.

Who should rent it, and who should size up

This Tucson suits a family of four or five who will use the boot and the back seat every day, not just on the airport run, and who want a car that behaves the same way in week two as it did on day one. It suits anyone who values a predictable rental over a flashy one, and the 250 km daily allowance covers a normal Dubai routine without watching the odometer.

Size down if it's just you or a couple running errands around town. A Creta or a compact hatch does that job for less rent and less fuel, and a 540-litre boot is wasted space if you're rarely carrying more than a laptop bag. Size up if you regularly travel with six or seven people, since this is a five-seater no matter how roomy it feels, or if the week includes real off-road driving. This FWD 2.0 is built for tarmac, so leave the dunes and Hatta's rougher tracks to a proper 4x4, and treat this Tucson for what it's best at: a calm, no-drama week of city and highway driving.
