Need seven seats in Dubai without paying seven-seat-SUV money? That's the whole reason the Hyundai Stargazer 2025 exists, and we rent it across the city with a no-deposit option so a family trip doesn't start with a chunk of cash frozen on your card. It's a compact MPV that seats seven on a footprint barely longer than a normal hatchback, which makes it one of the cheapest honest ways to move a full family plus a grandparent or two. The catch is a 1.5-litre engine doing all that work, so this page is about who that trade-off actually suits, and who should spend up for a proper SUV instead.
Think of it as a people-mover first and a luggage hauler second. Two parents, three or four kids, and the school run or a weekend at the beach: that's the Stargazer's sweet spot, and it does it for far less than a Highlander or a Fortuner. The seven seats are genuine, not token jump seats, so you can carry a visiting family from the airport without anyone folding into a corner for an hour.
Where it gets honest is the engine. The 1.5-litre four makes 115 hp through an IVT gearbox, and 115 hp pulling seven adults up an incline is not quick. Around town and on errands it's fine and smooth. Load it to the roof, point it at a long highway merge, and you'll feel it working. If your week is mostly six or seven people on city roads, it copes well. If it's frequent fast highway runs fully loaded, size up.
| Spec | Figure |
|---|---|
| Engine | 1.5L petrol, 4-cylinder |
| Power | 115 hp |
| Transmission | IVT (automatic) |
| Drivetrain | Front-wheel drive |
| Seats | 7 |
| Fuel economy | 6.1 L/100km combined |
| Fuel tank | 40 litres |
| Boot (behind 3rd row / seats folded) | 200L / up to 1,892L |
| Dimensions (L x W x H) | 4,460 x 1,780 x 1,695 mm |
| Ground clearance | 195 mm |

The seating is the selling point, so here's the part most listings skip. With all three rows up, the boot is small, about enough for a couple of soft bags or a folded stroller and the weekly groceries. That's the MPV compromise: you get the seventh seat, but not seven seats and a week of suitcases at the same time.
So plan around it. Six people with airport cases works only if you drop the third row, which then leaves you a proper, large load bay. Carrying seven and luggage at once means soft bags on laps or a roof effort. For a DXB or DWC airport run with a full family and hard cases, count the seats you actually need filled, then fold what you don't. Most weeks, families run six up with the third row down, and that's where the Stargazer feels biggest.
Dubai summers sit in the high 40s, and a tall MPV parked in the sun turns into an oven, more cabin air to cool than a sedan has. The Stargazer's AC handles a small or medium load well, but a packed seven-seater on a 45-degree afternoon takes longer to pull down than two people in a hatch. Crack the windows for the first minute, run the fan hard, and the front gets cold quickly. Rear passengers feel it more slowly, so on the school run start the AC before the kids climb in. It's adequate, not a luxury climate system, and at this rental price that's the fair expectation.
This is where the compact MPV shape earns its keep. At 4.46 metres it parks like a normal car, so Marina towers, mall basements and tight multi-storey bays are no drama, unlike a full-size seven-seat SUV that fights every ramp. The 195 mm of ground clearance clears Dubai's tall community speed bumps without scraping, and the high seating gives you a clear view over traffic. U-turns are easy. For a vehicle that carries seven, it's genuinely simple to place, which matters far more day to day than people expect.
On a 40-litre tank and a real-world figure around 6 to 7 L/100km in mixed driving, the Stargazer is cheap to run for its size. You're not refuelling every other day. Load it with seven and run the AC hard in summer and you'll see the higher end, which is still reasonable for a people-mover.
On Sheikh Zayed Road it cruises calmly at the limit and tracks straight. Just give yourself room when overtaking with a full cabin, because the response isn't urgent. Remember the renter pays Salik tolls and any RTA fines, seatbelts are mandatory in every row, and a child seat is required for under-fours.
Rent the Stargazer if you need seven real seats on a budget and most of your driving is city and family logistics. It parks easily, sips fuel for its size, and the no-deposit booking keeps the trip cheap to start. Go in clear-eyed on two things: the boot is tight with all seven seats up, and the 1.5-litre engine is relaxed, not punchy, when fully loaded. If you'll regularly carry seven people plus full luggage, or you want strong highway pull, step up to a larger seven-seat SUV. If you only ever need five, a smaller crossover will cost less and drive sharper. For everyone in between who just needs to move the whole family affordably, this is the smart pick.
