Picking the Haval Jolion 2025 over the older car comes down to one thing: you want the current model, with the newer tech and the refreshed 1.5T drivetrain, not last generation's kit at a discount. We bring the Haval Jolion 2025 to your door in Dubai inside one to two hours, fuelled and ready, so the decision is purely about the car. It's a compact crossover that has clearly moved on, more screen, more polish, a smoother automatic. The argument here is simple. For someone who wants a modern, well-equipped SUV at a low daily rate and has reasonable expectations of how it drives, this is a sensible week's rental. For a few buyers, an established rival still makes more sense, and we'll be straight about who.
The Jolion's pitch is kit. You step in and the cabin looks a class above the price: a large central touchscreen, digital instruments, soft materials where your hands land. That's the whole reason this car books out to people who'd otherwise take a plainer Japanese SUV. The 2025 version sharpens that further with updated software and a cleaner interface than the older Jolion, which is the real reason to take this year over the cheaper 2023 page sitting next to it.
Where it's honest to set expectations is the drive. The 1.5-litre turbo makes 143 hp and pulls fine around town, but the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic can hesitate from a standstill, that half-second pause before it commits. You feel it pulling out of a parking structure or nudging into a gap. Once you're moving it settles and shifts smoothly. It's not a sporty car and doesn't pretend to be.
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Class / body | Economy SUV, 5 seats |
| Engine | 1.5-litre turbo petrol |
| Power | 143 hp |
| Transmission | Automatic |
| Drivetrain | Front-wheel drive |
| Fuel economy (combined) | 7.5 L/100km |
| Fuel tank | 55 litres |
| Range (approx.) | 700+ km combined |
| Boot | 337 litres |
| Dimensions (L x W x H) | 4472 x 1841 x 1574 mm |
| Ground clearance | 190 mm |
| 0 to 100 km/h | 9.8 seconds |
| Top speed | 185 km/h |
The 55-litre tank and a real-world combined figure near 7.5 L/100km give you better than 700 km between fills. In practice a week of mixed city and highway running, mall trips, a couple of airport runs, the odd longer drive, means filling up roughly once, maybe twice if you're covering big distances daily. Petrol is cheap here, so the Jolion's running cost over a week is low. That's a genuine point in its favour against thirstier mid-size SUVs.
A note that matters more than fuel: Salik tolls are charged to you, not us, every time you pass a gate, and any RTA fines during the rental pass through to the renter too. Seat belts are required in every seat, and children under four need a child seat, which we can fit on request.
The boot is 337 litres, which is modest for an SUV this size. It swallows two large cases plus a couple of soft bags comfortably, fine for a couple or a small family for the week. Load four people with full airport luggage and it gets tight, so for a group with a lot of cases, size up to a bigger SUV.
At 4472 mm long and 1841 mm wide it's an easy car to place. It threads Marina parking and tight multi-storey bays without drama, and the reversing camera does the close work for you. The 190 mm of ground clearance clears Dubai's speed bumps and steep mall ramps that catch lower cars out, and it gives you a slightly raised view that renters like in heavy traffic.
This is the question every summer. Parked in the open at 45 degrees, the cabin bakes, and the Jolion's air conditioning takes a few minutes of strong front-vent flow before the interior is genuinely comfortable. It pulls down to a usable temperature reasonably quickly for the class, and there are rear vents, so back-seat passengers aren't left to suffer on a longer drive. Park in shade when you can and the wait is shorter. It's competent cooling, not luxury climate control, and that's the right expectation at this rate.
On Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 the Jolion cruises at the limit happily enough and has the overtaking punch you need, even if it's working a bit to find it. Airport runs to DXB or out to DWC are comfortable; the ride is on the soft side, which suits long, straight Dubai roads. Push it hard through quick direction changes and the body leans and the steering tells you little, but that's not what most renters are doing. For commuting, errands and family duty, it does the job without fuss.
Rent the Haval Jolion 2025 if you want the newest model, a genuinely well-kitted cabin, and a roomy-feeling SUV at a low daily rate, and you can live with a gearbox that's lazy off the line. For a couple or a small family doing city and highway miles for a week, it's good value and easy to live with. If you need maximum boot space for four with luggage, or you want the proven resale-grade refinement and dealer-network reassurance of a Toyota or Hyundai equivalent, pick one of those instead. For everyone else who wants current tech and space without paying for a badge, the Jolion 2025 earns its keep.
