Haval H6 2023 - start from 155 AED / day

The 2023 Haval H6 is one of the roomiest SUVs you can rent in Dubai at an economy rate, and we deliver it to your door within one to two hours with a generous 250 km a day built in and just 1 AED for each kilometre over. If your week here means a family, a full boot and a lot of driving, that combination is hard to beat. Here's the case for it: the H6 gives you mid-size SUV space and a strong 197 hp engine for small-SUV money, so the real decision is whether you want that room and pace, or whether a smaller, easier-to-park car suits your week better.

Space is the headline

The H6 is bigger than most of what sits near it on the rate card. At 4,657 mm long it's a genuine mid-size SUV, and the cabin shows it. Five adults fit without negotiating knee room, the rear seat is wide and flat, and the 600-litre boot is large for the class. Two big cases plus soft bags disappear into it, and a family packing for a week of mall runs and a trip out of town won't be playing luggage tetris. For a group collecting from DXB or DWC, the H6 takes the people and the bags in one go, which a compact crossover often can't.

The engine, and the gearbox quirk

The 2.0-litre turbo makes 197 hp, which is real power for this money. The H6 merges onto Sheikh Zayed Road with ease and has the mid-range to overtake a slow lorry on the E11 without a long run-up, something the weaker engines in this bracket can't manage with a full car. The catch is the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. At crawling speeds in heavy traffic it can feel hesitant pulling away, with a slight pause as the clutches take up, which is normal for this kind of transmission rather than a fault. Once you're rolling it shifts cleanly and you forget about it. If a perfectly smooth low-speed crawl is your top priority, a conventional automatic will feel more relaxed in gridlock.

Fuel and how often you'll fill up

Expect around 10 to 12 km per litre in mixed city driving, dropping when you're stuck in summer traffic with the AC working hard. The 60-litre tank gives a real-world range in the 600 to 700 km range, so a normal week of Dubai driving needs about one fill, maybe two if you're crossing the city daily. For a powerful SUV this size, it's reasonable on fuel rather than punishing.

Heat and a parked cabin at 45

Dubai's real test isn't the road, it's a car that's been baking in a summer car park. The H6's AC is strong up front and brings a hot cabin down to comfortable within a few minutes once you're moving with the fans up. There are rear vents, so back-seat passengers and child seats aren't left to suffer in the heat. Park in shade where you can, drop the windows for the first half-minute to dump the worst of it, and the system handles the rest. For a car at this rate, the cooling does the job well.

Parking, bumps and size in the city

The H6's size is its strength on the open road and its one compromise in town. At 1,886 mm wide it's a proper mid-size SUV, so tight multi-storey bays and narrow Marina ramps need a bit more care than a compact crossover. The high seating and big windows help you place it, and the reversing aids do the rest. Ground clearance is 170 mm, which clears Dubai's speed bumps and mall entrance ramps without you wincing. Read the SUV stance honestly, though: this is front-wheel drive built for tarmac, so keep it off soft sand and out of the dunes.

The rules that fall to you

A few costs are on the renter, not us. Salik tolls run on the rental account, so every gantry you pass gets billed to the hire. Any RTA fines during your rental pass to you as well, so watch the speed cameras. Seatbelts are required in every seat, and children under four need a proper child seat, which we can fit before delivery if you ask. We take card, debit, cash, bank transfer, Apple Pay, Google Pay and crypto, and we rent to drivers from 18.

Who should rent it

Rent the H6 2023 if you want the most space and the most engine for the money: a roomy five-seat SUV with a big boot, real overtaking power and an easy week of family and airport driving, especially with that 1 AED extra-kilometre rate if you'll cover serious distance. It's a strong value pick. Skip it if your week is all tight city parking and short hops, where a smaller crossover is easier to thread through bays and ramps, or if dead-smooth low-speed manners top your list, in which case a car with a conventional automatic is the better call. For room, pace and value together, the H6 is hard to argue with.
