A seven-seater with a real 2.0-litre turbo under the bonnet is rarer than the spec sheets make it look, and the Geely Okavango 2025 is one of the few you can rent in Dubai without paying mid-size SUV money. We deliver it to your door in one to two hours, with 250 km a day built into the rate. The engine is the headline here. Where most budget three-row cars lean on a strained small turbo, this one makes 218 hp and 325 Nm, so a full load doesn't turn every on-ramp into a project. This page is about whether that extra muscle, and the space around it, suits your week, or whether the size works against you in town.
Most seven-seaters in this price bracket give you a 1.5-litre triple and ask it to do the work of something bigger. The Okavango doesn't. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol sends 218 hp and 325 Nm through a seven-speed wet dual-clutch automatic, and the difference shows the moment you load it up. Five aboard with luggage, you still pull onto Sheikh Zayed Road without leaving a gap the size of a bus. Overtaking on the E11 is a decision, not a gamble. It cruises at 120 quietly and has more in reserve than a car this practical usually bothers with.
The wet dual-clutch is smoother in stop-start traffic than the dry boxes you find lower down, so the low-speed shuffle around a mall car park stays civil rather than jerky.
This is the question that should decide it. The Okavango runs a 2-3-2 layout. Five travel in genuine comfort, with a middle bench wide enough for three across. The third row is the usual compromise: fine for kids or a short hop, tight for adults on a long run, so don't promise the back two seats to grown-ups heading to DXB.
Luggage is where you do the sums. With all seven seats up, the boot is modest, enough for a few soft bags or a grocery run, not a full set of hard cases. Fold the third row and you open a deep, square hold that takes the big suitcases for a family of five with room left over. If you need both the back seats and a packed boot at once, the Okavango is tight, like every seven-seater at this price. Drop the rearmost row when you need cargo and it works.

The bigger engine doesn't punish you the way you'd expect. On the combined cycle the Okavango returns 7.7 litres per 100 km, and with the 60-litre tank that's a quoted range near 760 km. Real Dubai use runs thirstier once you add stop-start traffic and the AC at full tilt with seven aboard, so call it one fill for a normal week of school runs and errands, two if you're doing daily highway stints fully loaded. For a car this size carrying this many people, that's a fair trade.
A cabin this big lives or dies on how fast it cools after a few hours baking in a Dubai lot, and the Okavango copes well. The front and middle rows get strong airflow, and there are dedicated rear vents feeding the back, which counts when there are kids in the third row in July. Open the windows for ten seconds as you set off to dump the worst of the trapped heat, and the system pulls the cabin down to comfortable within a few minutes. It's not a luxury climate setup, but for the money the cooling is one of its stronger points.
At 4.86 metres it's a long car, longer than it looks parked, so tight multi-storey bays and a Marina garage ramp want a bit of patience. The reversing camera earns its keep on the daily park. The 210 mm of ground clearance is generous, so speed bumps, raised mall entrances and the lip into a sandy lot won't have you wincing. It's front-wheel drive only, though, so treat it as a tall family car, not a dune machine. Soft sand is a recovery call, not a plan.
The Dubai housekeeping is brief. Salik tolls run on the renter's account, and any RTA fines during your hire come back to you. Belts are mandatory in every row, and children under four need a proper child seat, worth fitting before the airport pickup rather than after.
Rent the Okavango if you're a family of five or six who wants three rows, modern kit, and an engine that doesn't strain under a full load, all at a low daily rate. The 2.0-litre turbo is the reason to pick this over the cheaper triples in the class, and the included 250 km a day means a busy week doesn't run up extra-distance charges.
Look elsewhere if you regularly carry seven adults on long highway runs, where you want a third row grown-ups can live in, or if proven resale and a longer service history matter more to you than outright pace. A Toyota Innova or a larger SUV answers that. For a family that wants space, real power, and sensible running costs without the premium badge, the Okavango is the smarter buy, and we'll have it at your door inside two hours.
