Geely Monjaro 2025 - start from 310 AED / day

We hand over the Geely Monjaro 2025 across Dubai with 250 km a day built into the rental, which is what makes it sit easily for a week of real driving rather than short hops. This is a midsize five-seat SUV with a 2.0-litre turbo, and it rents the way a near-premium crossover should: a wide, quiet cabin, a big screen, soft leather-look trim, and more standard kit than the rate suggests. The question this page settles is simple. The Monjaro feels upmarket for the money, so does the Geely badge and the way it actually drives hold up against an established midsize SUV, or should you pay a little more for a name you already trust?

What you're actually renting

The Monjaro's pitch is the cabin. You sit in it and it looks and feels a class above the price, with a large central touchscreen, ambient lighting, and seats that are genuinely comfortable for two adults up front and three across the back on shorter runs. The 2.0-litre turbo puts out 218 horsepower and gets to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, which is brisk for the segment and more than enough for merging onto fast roads with a full car.

Where the value badge shows is in the driving feel, not the spec sheet. The steering is light and a touch numb, the ride leans toward soft and floaty rather than tied-down, and the dual-clutch gearbox can hesitate from a standstill before it settles. None of that matters on a relaxed cruise. It matters if you want a sharp, planted SUV, and there an established rival still feels more polished.

Does your luggage fit

The boot is 562 litres with the rear seats up, which is a proper midsize-SUV figure. For an airport run that means two large hard cases and a couple of soft bags load in without a fight, and a family of four packs for a week without stacking luggage on the back seat. Drop the rear seats and you have a flat, long load floor for the awkward stuff, a flat-pack from the mall or a pair of bikes.

Compared with the small crossovers people often default to for a Dubai rental, the Monjaro gives you real room. If you've been squeezing cases into a compact SUV and resenting it, this is the size-up that fixes that.

How often you'll refuel

The 70-litre tank is generous, and that's the headline for a week of driving. Geely quotes economy in the high single digits, but in Dubai reality, full AC, stop-start Sheikh Zayed Road traffic, and a heavy right foot on the turbo, plan for around 8.5 litres per 100 km, sometimes a little more in pure city crawling. Even at that, the big tank means a comfortable 700-plus km of mixed driving between fills.

In practice most renters top up once across a normal week. If you're running DXB and DWC airport transfers plus daily errands, budget two fills and you won't be caught short. The AWD system and the turbo aren't built for frugality, so treat the economy as decent for the size, not class-leading.

Living with it in Dubai

Heat is the first test, and the Monjaro handles a parked summer cabin reasonably well. Left in the sun at 45 degrees, the front vents pull the temperature down within a few minutes, and the rear passengers get their own vents, which matters with kids or three in the back. It won't be ice-cold instantly, no SUV this size is, but it cools evenly once moving.

On size, this is a midsize SUV at 4.77 metres long, so Marina multi-storey bays and tight mall ramps need a bit of care. Nothing the parking sensors and camera can't manage, but it's no city runabout. Ground clearance is 210 mm, which clears Dubai's aggressive speed bumps and sloped mall entries without scraping, and gives you a relaxed margin on rougher access roads.

On the open road it's at its best. Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 suit the quiet cabin and the torquey turbo, overtaking is effortless, and the car settles into a calm high-speed cruise. Remember the running costs are yours: Salik tolls and any RTA fines pass to the renter, seatbelts are mandatory in every seat, and a child seat is required for under-fours.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Monjaro if you want the look and feel of a near-premium midsize SUV for a noticeably lower rate, you value a plush, well-equipped cabin and a roomy boot, and you spend most of your week cruising highways and airport runs with the family. For that brief it's a lot of car, and the 250 km daily allowance gives you the room to use it.

Skip it if you want the last word in driving polish or long-term resale reassurance, the dual-clutch hesitation and soft steering will bother keen drivers, and the badge doesn't carry the residual confidence of an established name. If that's you, pay a bit more for a Toyota or a comparable proven midsize SUV. For everyone chasing premium-feeling space without German pricing, the Monjaro earns its place on the lot.
