Geely Cityray 2026 - start from 231 AED / day

Picking a compact crossover on a budget used to mean accepting a plain cabin and a thin equipment list. The Geely Cityray 2026 is the new option that argues otherwise, and yes, it rents in Dubai. We hand it over within one to two hours and take the payment however suits you on the doorstep: card, cash, bank transfer, Apple Pay, Google Pay, even crypto, with no hunt for a particular machine. So the real question isn't whether the Cityray looks the part. It's whether a value-brand crossover this fresh is the right call for your week here, or whether your money is safer on an established small SUV. That's what this page sorts out.

What you're actually renting

The Cityray is a five-seat crossover with a turbocharged 1.5-litre engine and an automatic gearbox, sending drive to the front wheels. On paper and in the metal it reads like a class above its rate: big alloys, a wide grille, a screen-led dash. For a single driver or a couple doing the usual Dubai mix of errands, mall trips and the odd airport run, it has more presence and more kit than the economy badge suggests.

Where it's honest to set expectations is the drive. This is a comfortable, easygoing crossover tuned for calm city use, not a sharp-handling one. The automatic is smooth once rolling but can hesitate from a standstill, so leave a beat at junctions rather than stabbing the throttle. On Sheikh Zayed Road it cruises happily and overtakes without drama. Push it through fast corners and the soft setup leans, which is the trade for that comfortable ride.

Will my luggage fit

Yes, comfortably for most trips. The 571-litre boot is genuinely roomy for this class, and that's the number that decides the DXB or DWC airport run. Two large cases and a couple of soft bags go in without folding seats, which is more than a typical economy hatch manages. Fold the rear bench and you have a flat, deep load space for a flat-pack run or a camping weekend. For four adults plus a week of suitcases it stays sensible rather than tight, and that boot is one of the stronger reasons to take the Cityray over a smaller car.

Heat, cooling and the cabin

Cooling is the first thing renters ask about in summer, and the Cityray copes well. Park it in the sun at 45 degrees and the front vents pull the cabin down to comfortable inside a few minutes, helped by rear vents that keep back-seat passengers from roasting on a school run or an airport transfer. The cabin itself is the strong suit here: a large central touchscreen, soft-feel surfaces where your hands land, and space that feels a size up from the rate. Just budget a moment to learn the screen menus, since most controls live in there rather than on physical buttons.

Refuelling, Salik and the daily rules

With a 51-litre tank and an official 6.3 L/100km figure, a real week of Dubai driving lands closer to the high sevens once you factor in heat, traffic and the AC working overtime. Even so, you're looking at roughly one fill-up across a normal city week, not constant stops. The rental includes 250 km a day with extra distance at 1 AED per km, generous enough that most city-based renters never touch the cap.

A few Dubai facts worth stating plainly. Salik tolls are charged to you as the renter, and any RTA fine during the rental passes to you, so watch the gantries and the speed cameras on the E11. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat, and children under four need a proper child seat, which we can arrange.

Parking and city manoeuvres

At 4510 mm long the Cityray is a true compact crossover, not a tall mini-SUV, so it needs a touch more thought in a tight Marina multi-storey than a city hatch does. The upside is the camera and sensor setup, which makes squeezing into a narrow bay far less stressful than the size suggests. The 200 mm ground clearance clears Dubai's aggressive speed bumps and steep mall ramps without the nervous scraping you get in a low sedan. For day-to-day parking and U-turns it's manageable, just don't expect it to tuck away like a Picanto.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Cityray 2026 if you want the look, the screen and the space of a modern crossover at an economy rate, and you mostly drive city loops with the occasional highway stretch. For a couple or a small family doing mall runs, airport pickups and a relaxed week, it's a lot of car for the money, and the boot and clearance back that up.

Look elsewhere if a value-brand badge and dealer network matter to you for a longer rental, or if you want a crisp, planted drive. In that case an established small crossover like a Kia Seltos or Hyundai Creta gives you a more proven car and a sharper feel, usually for a little more. And if it's only ever city errands for one or two people, a smaller hatch will be cheaper to run and easier to park. But for renters who want maximum style and kit per dirham, the Cityray makes a strong case.
