We hand the Ferrari SF90 2021 to people who want one extraordinary drive in Dubai, and we take payment however suits you on delivery: card, cash, bank transfer, or a wallet like Apple Pay or Google Pay. This is the plug-in hybrid Stradale, a mid-engine coupe with a twin-turbo V8 on the rear axle and electric motors on the front, near 1,000 horsepower sent to all four wheels. Rent it for the occasion, not the week. Everything below is about whether the drive and the drama are what you came for, because almost nothing else about this car is practical.
The SF90 pairs a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with a three-motor electric system. Two motors sit on the front wheels and one feeds the gearbox, which is how a Ferrari ends up with all-wheel drive. Combined output is around 986 hp, so the brochure and our page both list the V8's own 780 hp at times. The number that matters when you bury the throttle is the combined one. Off the line it launches with a violence most supercars can't match, partly because those front motors claw at the tarmac while the V8 is still spooling. Ferrari quotes 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 340 km/h. You will not use the second figure in this country, and you shouldn't.
There's a quieter trick too. With a charged 7.9 kWh battery you get roughly 25 km of silent electric crawl, enough to slip out of a hotel forecourt or a residential community without waking anyone. It's a brief party piece, not a commuting feature. Once the V8 lights up, the SF90 stops pretending to be sensible.

On Sheikh Zayed Road the SF90 has presence and overtaking authority that nothing in normal traffic comes close to. The problem isn't the car, it's the speed cameras. The E11 is heavily enforced, and in this car you reach a fine before you've registered the throttle moving. Every Salik toll, every camera fine, every penalty for crossing a line goes to you as the renter, so the discipline has to come from your right foot. Belts are mandatory, which in a two-seat Ferrari is hardly a hardship.
The height is the daily headache. At 1,186 mm tall with a nose this low, the SF90 will scrape on speed bumps, steep mall ramps, and most underground parking entrances unless you use the front-axle lift. Get used to lifting the nose before every ramp and bump. Forget about it once and you'll hear it. Parking a car this wide and this low in a tight multi-storey bay is a careful, slow exercise, and you'll attract a crowd doing it.
Heat is the other reality. A small two-seat cabin baked in 45-degree sun gets brutal fast, and while the AC is strong, give it a few minutes with the doors open before you expect comfort. The cabin is snug rather than airy, so it cools to a usable temperature reasonably quickly once it gets going, but the first minute after a midday parking stint is unpleasant in any car, this one included.
Does your luggage fit? Barely. There's a small front compartment and that's it, enough for a soft weekend bag or a couple of backpacks, not suitcases. A DXB or DWC airport run in the SF90 is a statement, not a transport plan. One person travelling light works. Two people with checked bags do not, and there's no back seat to overflow into.
Refuelling is frequent if you drive it the way it wants to be driven. The 68-litre tank disappears quickly under hard use, and real-world economy in Dubai heat with the V8 working is poor by any normal measure. The electric range is a novelty for short, quiet stints rather than a way to save fuel. Plan to refill often and treat charging as optional theatre rather than a money-saver.
Rent the SF90 if the drive is the whole point: a birthday, a proposal, a shoot, a once-in-a-trip blast where the launch, the noise, and the way it pins you back are the entire reason you're here. It rewards that completely.
Skip it for anything resembling normal use. If you need to carry people or bags, want to do airport runs without logistics, or simply want a car you can park anywhere without thinking, look elsewhere. A Ferrari GT car like the Roma gives you the badge with a usable boot and an easier life, and a luxury SUV gives you space, ride height, and room for four. The SF90 is the car you book when usability is exactly the thing you're willing to give up.
