If you want a Ferrari for more than one dramatic afternoon, the Portofino 2024 is the one that handles a whole week without complaint. It's a 620 hp V8 convertible with a folding metal roof, so it's a sealed, quiet coupe when the sun is high and an open drop-top when it isn't, all from the same car. We deliver it across Dubai with 250 km a day included, and you can settle the booking by card, bank transfer or pay-on-delivery rather than tying everything up front. This page works out whether that everyday flexibility suits your trip, or whether the summer heat and the rear-seat reality steer you toward a different exotic.
Under the long bonnet is a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 making 620 hp, sent to the rear wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. It does 0 to 100 km/h in about 3.45 seconds and tops out at 320 km/h. In Dubai traffic the figures matter less than the delivery. The throttle is gentle at low speed, so you can trickle through a hotel forecourt without lurching, then it hardens the instant you're clear and want to overtake on Sheikh Zayed Road. That two-sided nature, calm when you want calm and serious when you don't, is what makes it usable day after day rather than once.

The folding hardtop is the headline, but the boot is the quiet reason this car works for a real trip. Roof up, the 292-litre space takes a medium case plus a soft holdall, or a couple of soft bags, which covers a DXB or DWC airport run with hand luggage and a checked bag for two. Drop the roof and the folded panels eat into that, so load the boot before you lower the top, not after. It's no SUV, but against a fixed two-seat supercar with a glovebox for luggage, this is a genuine advantage on the days you're actually moving things.
In June and July, open-top driving is an early-morning and after-dark thing. Stop at a light at noon with the roof down and the sun does the rest in seconds. The honest window is before nine in the morning and again from late afternoon into the night, which happens to line up with the best light on the coast roads. The rest of the day you run it as a coupe. Roof up, the cabin cools fast: it's a small sealed space with strong front vents, so even after baking in a car park, the AC pulls it to comfortable within a few minutes. Don't expect much for the back. The 2+2 layout means rear passengers get warmth off the front vents and little of their own, and they shouldn't be adults anyway.
The open highway is where this car earns its keep. On the E11 it cruises with huge reserves, and the noise and presence are the point. Watch the cameras, because enforcement is constant, and every fine and every Salik toll passes to you across the week. Seat belts are mandatory front and rear. The thing to respect is the nose: the front lip is low, so steep mall ramps, sharp speed bumps and sloped entries all want a slow, square approach. The car has a nose-lift system and you'll use it often. In tight multi-storey bays it's wide at 1938 mm, but visibility roof-up is better than most exotics, and roof-down you can see your corners. Plan to refuel every couple of days if you're driving it hard, since 11.3 L/100 km and an 80-litre tank don't go far when you're enjoying it. Fuel here is cheap, so it's the time, not the cost, you're managing.
Rent the Portofino 2024 if you want a Ferrari you can actually use for several days: a couple touring the coast at sunrise and sunset, someone who wants drop-top drama in the evening and a cool, sealed coupe by day, and a driver who values a usable boot over the last word in lap times. It's the sensible exotic, and that's meant as a compliment.
Look elsewhere in two cases. If you want maximum theatre and you're only ever two people, a hardcore two-seat supercar delivers more drama for the same money. And if you need to move four adults with luggage, skip the 2+2 entirely and rent a luxury SUV. The Portofino does the open-top grand tourer job better than almost anything, but it won't pretend to be a family car.
