The one decision worth making before you book the Exeed VX 2025 in Dubai is whether you want the space and kit of a large SUV wearing a badge you have probably never driven, or a smaller cabin from a nameplate you already trust. That is the whole trade, and it is narrower than it looks. The VX is a three row SUV a shade under five metres long, with 261 hp, all wheel drive and an equipment list that belongs on a considerably more expensive car. We rent it from age 18 with twelve months of licence behind you, which most Dubai desks will not do.

Where it sits against the seven seaters you already know

Renters usually arrive at this page from one of two directions. Some are looking at a familiar midsize crossover with a token third row and wondering whether to go bigger. Others are looking at a full size body on frame 4x4 and wondering whether they need that much car. The VX answers the first group better than the second.

Against a midsize seven seater it is longer, wider and considerably stronger. 261 hp and 400 Nm from the 2.0 turbo mean a full car merges and overtakes without the engine sounding busy, and the cabin materials are a step up from what the class average offers. Against a proper off road 4x4 it is a different animal altogether. The all wheel drive here is a torque on demand system that sends drive rearward when the front wheels start to slip. That is genuinely useful on a wet December morning or a graded track out to a farm gate. It is not a dune system, and 1.9 tonnes on road tyres is not what you want in soft sand. Book a body on frame 4x4 for that weekend and enjoy the VX for everything else.

What three rows of space really buys you

The 2,900 mm wheelbase does most of the work in the middle of the car. Second row passengers get proper legroom, three adults across the bench is fine for a run to the airport, and the cabin stays quiet enough at speed for a conversation between rows without raised voices.

Row three is for children. Getting back there means tipping and squeezing past the middle bench, and once an adult is in, knee room and headroom both run short. Kids on the school run or a twenty minute hop across town is what those seats are for, and we would rather set that expectation now than have it discovered on the way to a wedding.

Luggage follows the same logic. With every seat occupied the load bay takes roughly one large case, so seven passengers travelling with a week of suitcases each is not this car. Fold row three and you have 461 litres, a genuine five seat SUV boot. Drop the second row too and it opens to around 1,800 litres for furniture or bulky sports kit.

How it drives, and how fast it cools

On the E11 the VX is calm and unbothered. The eight speed automatic shifts early and smoothly, it is tuned for economy rather than drama, and the car settles into a quiet cruise. Steering is comfort led rather than sharp, which suits long straight runs and feels a little vague if you hurry it through a corner. It sits high, so aggressive community speed bumps and steep basement ramps pass underneath without a scrape.

City work is where the size costs you something. At 1,940 mm wide the VX fills a standard mall bay with almost nothing to spare, and a tight multi storey ramp wants both the cameras and your attention. U turns take a wider bite of road than you expect from behind the wheel.

Heat deserves an honest answer. A cabin this long, with this much glass, gets punishing after a few hours parked in an open lot in July. The AC has the capacity for it and there are vents feeding the rear rows, but the air reaches the third row last and slowest. Give it two or three minutes with the fan up and the windows briefly down before you load children into the back, and the whole cabin is comfortable by the time you reach the first junction.

Fuel, Salik and the mileage allowance

Claimed economy is around 12.5 km/L. Real Dubai driving, with the AC working hard and traffic stopping and starting, lands nearer 8 or 9. From the 65 litre tank that is roughly 550 to 650 km of mixed use, so budget two fills across a normal week rather than one.

Mileage runs at 300 km per day, with anything beyond charged at AED 0.5 per kilometre. That covers city and airport driving comfortably, though a same day Abu Dhabi return eats into it. Salik tolls run on the car and pass to you, as do any RTA fines raised during the rental. Belts are mandatory in all three rows, and children under four need a proper child seat, which we will fit before delivery if you ask when booking.

Book it for five or six, not for seven

Two groups should look elsewhere. If seven adults and seven sets of luggage genuinely travel together, no three row SUV of this shape works and a van based people carrier will serve you far better. And if there are two or three of you doing errands and mall parking all week, a midsize crossover will cost less to fuel and ask far less of every car park you enter.
