The Exeed LX 2025 is not a name most renters recognize before they see it parked outside their building, and we would rather say that upfront than let you find out at the curb. Exeed is Chery's premium arm, only a few years into the UAE market, and the LX is its compact SUV entry: five seats, real turbo power and a cabin that reads better than the badge suggests. We deliver it to your door within one to two hours of booking, no showroom stop required. The question this page answers is straightforward: does an unfamiliar name matter next to a car that is properly specced for a week in Dubai, or is that just badge anxiety talking?

The engine, and what it feels like to drive

This LX carries Exeed's stronger engine, a 1.6-litre turbocharged four making 197 hp and around 290 Nm, sent to the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Skip the CVT that Exeed also fits to the entry 1.5T version of this same body. A dual-clutch gearbox shifts with real intent instead of holding a flat rev band and hoping you don't notice, so merging onto Sheikh Zayed Road or overtaking a slower truck happens with a bit of urgency the cheaper gearbox doesn't have. Settled into a 120 km/h cruise, it doesn't feel stretched.

Don't read the extra power as extra grip, though. This is the front-wheel-drive version of the LX. Exeed keeps all-wheel drive for its range-topping Flagship trim, and a rental fleet car shouldn't be assumed to be that one. Treat the 1.6T as a confident city and highway engine, not a desert one. Parts and service history for the Exeed name are also still thinner on the ground in the UAE than for a Hyundai or a Kia. That barely matters across a week's rental, but it's the honest reason a cabin this well finished still costs less to hire than a badge you already know.

Cargo space, rear seat and everyday runs

The 400-litre boot holds real compact-SUV space, not a family-sized load bay. Flying into DXB or DWC and heading straight to the car, plan on one full-size suitcase and a soft duffel with the back seats up, not three hard cases stacked to the roof. Fold the rear bench down and there's room for a supermarket run or a flat-pack delivery, but this isn't a car for moving a household in one trip.

Rear legroom is where the 2,670 mm wheelbase pays off. Two adults get through a full day at the mall or the beach without complaint, and the 1,848 mm width means a third passenger squeezed in for a short hop isn't miserable. Ground clearance does quiet work too. At 200 mm, well above a typical sedan's, the LX clears a steep basement ramp or a badly graded speed bump without the scrape a lower car gives you. That extra height is worth having for parking and potholes, not for anything past the paved road toward Hatta. This is still a front-wheel-drive SUV on road tyres, and the Flagship's all-wheel-drive setup isn't part of this car.

Mileage, fuel and the Dubai heat test

This car's rental terms don't work like most of the fleet. Instead of a daily cap, you get 4,500 km for the whole booking, a single pool rather than a number that resets every morning, and anything past it runs AED 1 per extra kilometre. Spread across a two-week hire that averages out to more than 300 km a day, and even a full month still leaves roughly 150 km a day, more than most renters use running errands around the city. The exception is a short trip built around real distance. Stack a Hatta day out and a longer highway run into the same week and you can draw the pool down faster than the total suggests, so it's worth keeping an eye on the odometer rather than treating 4,500 km as effectively unlimited. You'll need to be at least 21 to collect the keys, and delivery to your address takes one to two hours from booking.

A dual-clutch gearbox does you a favour on fuel that the cheaper CVT doesn't. Quicker, decisive shifts waste less fuel than a CVT's habit of hanging onto revs under load. Even so, Exeed's claimed 12 to 14 km/L combined is a lab figure. Run the AC through a full Dubai afternoon and reckon on 9 to 10 km/L instead. The 51-litre tank still gets you roughly 450 to 500 km at that real-world rate, enough that most weeks of city errands and airport runs need one stop at the pump, maybe two if you're commuting in from further out daily. Salik tolls and any RTA fines picked up during the rental fall to the renter, same as any car booked here.

A compact cabin is an advantage once the sun has had all day at it. The LX doesn't have to cool a full-size SUV's volume of trapped air, so the front vents get it from oven to bearable well before you've pulled out of the driveway. Climb back in after a few hours at the mall and give it three or four minutes before the seats stop radiating heat back at you.

Who the LX 2025 suits, and who should look elsewhere

Book the LX 2025 if a properly geared 1.6-turbo and a dual-clutch gearbox matter more to you than a badge every valet already recognises, and if a lump-sum mileage allowance suits a trip built around real distance rather than city errands alone. Two adults running the week's errands, a school pickup and an airport trip will find this car does everything asked of it, and 200 mm of clearance means speed bumps and basement ramps stop being something to think about.

Look elsewhere if you need genuine all-wheel-drive grip for gravel tracks past Hatta, plan on carrying more than a case and a bag each, or would rather drive something the whole car park recognises on sight. For a week or two of ordinary Dubai driving, city streets and the highway both, the LX earns its place ahead of its badge, and the mileage allowance works with that rather than against it.
