Book the Exeed LX 2024 and the decision really comes down to one thing: are you happy trading outright pace for a lot of car at a low daily rate? We rent this five-seat SUV in Dubai with doorstep delivery inside one to two hours, and it's the pick for a family who want space, kit and comfort without paying SUV money. The engine is modest and we won't pretend otherwise, but for the city driving most renters actually do, that barely matters. This page is here to help you weigh the cabin and the running cost against the one real compromise, the 1.5-litre turbo's relaxed performance.
Under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre turbo four making 147 hp, sent to the front wheels through an automatic. Around town and on normal commutes it's smooth and untroubled, pulling away from lights and keeping pace on Sheikh Zayed Road without complaint. Where you feel its limits is the hard stuff: five aboard, luggage in the back, and a sudden overtake at speed. Then it's working rather than surging, and the response is more steady than urgent.
For the vast majority of Dubai rentals, school runs, mall trips, airport transfers, that's a non-issue. The engine does everything daily life asks of it. If your week is genuinely long highway hauls fully loaded, factor the modest power in and consider a bigger engine. For everyone else, the trade buys you a noticeably better-equipped car than the rate suggests.

The LX sits in our economy bracket but doesn't behave like it inside. You get a large touchscreen, a digital driver display, a clean dashboard, and soft-touch materials where cheaper SUVs leave bare plastic. For a family, that matters more than any badge. Two adults up front and three across the back fit without anyone fighting for knee room, and the cabin stays quiet enough on the highway for normal conversation. After a week in a stripped-out rival, the difference is obvious the moment you sit in it.
The 400-litre boot is the sensible, squared-off kind rather than deep and awkward. Two large suitcases stand side by side with room for a couple of soft bags on top, which covers a family of four flying in for a week. A DXB or DWC airport pickup with a normal load is no trouble. Travelling five with five hard cases is where it gets tight, and you'll be folding part of the rear bench to manage. For most family loads, it does the job.
At 4520 mm long and just under 1850 wide, the LX is a mid-size SUV, not a compact. It slots into standard multi-storey bays fine, but the tighter Marina ramps and narrower older bays ask for care on the mirrors, where the reversing camera and sensors earn their keep. The ride height clears Dubai's speed bumps and mall entrance ramps without scraping, and the raised seating gives you a view over traffic that a hatchback can't. U-turns are easy enough, and you won't be fighting it on daily errands.
From June through September a parked cabin can sit well above 45 degrees, and how fast it recovers is a genuine rental concern. The LX's air conditioning pulls a baking interior down at a fair pace, helped by rear vents that actually reach the second row, so kids in the back aren't waiting out the front passengers' comfort. It's not a luxury climate system, but for the price it cools honestly and holds temperature on the highway at full speed. Park in shade where you can and crack the windows for ten seconds before you set off, and the cabin clears faster.
On a 51-litre tank returning somewhere between 12 and 14 km per litre in real mixed driving, you're looking at a usable range past 600 km. For a week of school runs, mall trips and the odd airport transfer, that's roughly one fill, maybe a top-up if you add a long day out. Petrol in the UAE is cheap, so running costs stay low. Expect the lower end of that figure if you mostly sit in stop-start traffic with the AC on hard.
A few rules, kept brief. Salik tolls are charged to you each time you pass a gantry, and any RTA fine during the rental passes to you. Seatbelts are mandatory in every seat, and children under four need a proper child seat, which we can add to the booking.
Rent the Exeed LX 2024 if you want a comfortable, well-kitted five-seat SUV for family driving around Dubai at a rate that undercuts plainer rivals. For a week of city errands, school runs and airport transfers, the cabin punches well above its price and the boot handles a sensible family load.
Look elsewhere if you regularly drive five adults plus full luggage on long highway hauls, where the 147 hp engine starts to feel stretched, or if you need real off-road and desert capability, which this front-wheel-drive SUV isn't built for. For everyone whose week is mostly town and tarmac, the LX gives you more car than the price suggests, and that's exactly why it's on the fleet.
