Exeed prices itself like a name you should already recognize, and most people collecting one in Dubai still ask what the badge even is. The Exeed LX 2024 is Chery's premium-positioned compact SUV, sold in the UAE since around 2021, and what you're actually renting is an unfamiliar name wrapped around genuinely tidy interior work and a straightforward turbo engine. We get it to your door within one to two hours of booking, no showroom visit needed. This page is about whether the fit and finish justify carrying a badge nobody recognizes for a week, or whether the safer, better-known choice is worth paying more for.
This LX runs Exeed's entry engine, a 1.5-litre turbo four making 144 hp and 230 Nm, paired with a CVT automatic driving the front wheels. Exeed also builds a stronger 1.6-litre turbo with a proper dual-clutch gearbox for this same body, and if outright pace matters to you, that's the one to ask the desk about. What you get here instead is enough shove for a Sheikh Zayed Road on-ramp and an ordinary overtake, with the CVT doing what CVTs do under harder acceleration: holding a higher rev band and droning rather than snapping cleanly through gears. Ease into it and it settles down, which covers most of what a week of Dubai driving actually asks for.
This is front-wheel drive, and there's no all-wheel-drive version of this car at this trim level in the UAE. The extra ground clearance covered below is about ride comfort and speed bumps, not sand or gravel. Parts and service history for the Exeed badge are still thinner on the ground here than for a Hyundai or a Kia. That barely registers over a week's rental, but it's the honest reason a cabin with this much polish still rents for less than the established names.
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Engine | 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder |
| Power | 144 hp / 230 Nm |
| Transmission | CVT automatic |
| Drive | Front-wheel drive |
| Seats | 5 |
| Boot | 400 litres |
| Fuel tank | 51 litres |
| Fuel economy | Up to 14 km/L combined (claimed) |
| Dimensions (L x W x H) | 4,533 x 1,848 x 1,700 mm |
| Ground clearance | 200 mm |
| Colour | White |
The 400-litre boot is honest compact-SUV space, not a load bay you can stack a family's luggage into. For a DXB or DWC pickup, plan on one large case and a soft bag with the rear seats up. Fold the bench and it swallows a flatpack run or a proper supermarket trip, but this isn't the car for moving four suitcases and a stroller in one go.
The 2,670 mm wheelbase gives the back seat real knee room for the class, so two adults sit comfortably through a full day of mall runs or a beach trip, and the 1,848 mm width means a third passenger squeezing in for a short hop isn't miserable. Ground clearance is where the LX quietly does its best work. At 200 mm it clears speed bumps, steep mall ramps and the lip into a Marina basement without the scrape a lower sedan gives you. Treat that height as parking insurance, though, not an invitation off-road. It's still riding on road tyres with front-wheel drive, so Hatta's gravel tracks are someone else's car.
Exeed claims up to 14 km/L combined for the 1.5-turbo, and that number is worth discounting once the CVT is working and the AC is running flat out through a Dubai afternoon. Expect closer to 10 or 11 km/L in real driving. On the 51-litre tank that puts real-world range around 500 to 550 km, so most weeks of city errands and airport runs mean one stop at the pump, maybe two if you're commuting in from further out daily.
The rental terms on this car are 250 km a day, and anything past that runs AED 0.5 per kilometre, so a long day trip is worth checking against the odometer before you leave. Salik tolls and any RTA fines picked up during the rental are the renter's to settle, standard for any car booked here. You'll need to be 25 to take the keys, older than some rivals in this class ask for.
On heat, the compact cabin works in the LX's favor. There's less air to cool than in a mid-size SUV, so the front vents pull a car that's baked at 45 degrees down to comfortable within a few minutes of climbing back in. The dash's twin-screen layout takes a moment to learn on day one, but the physical climate controls are simple enough that you're not digging through a menu while the AC catches up.
Rent the LX 2024 if a genuinely nice cabin and steady, predictable city driving matter more to you than a badge everyone in the car park already knows. A couple or small family doing malls, school runs and an airport pickup gets everything they need, and 200 mm of clearance makes daily parking and speed bumps a non-issue. If you specifically want more punch from the drivetrain, ask whether a 1.6-turbo, dual-clutch unit of this same car is available, since Exeed builds one for this body.
Size up, or pick a Creta or a Seltos, if brand recognition matters more to you than interior finish, if you're carrying more luggage than one case and a bag, or if you want a badge with a longer UAE service record behind it. None of that undoes what the LX gets right. For a week of ordinary Dubai driving, it's a calmer, better-finished car than its badge suggests, and that's worth more than a name you already know once you're actually sitting in it.
