Exeed Lx 2024 - start from 136 AED / day

Renting an Exeed LX 2024 in Dubai gets you a compact SUV with 250 km a day already included, so a week of school runs, mall trips and the odd highway stretch rarely has you watching the odometer. We hand it over with five real seats, a high driving position and a kit list that reads like a class above. The argument for this car is simple. It gives a family a comfortable, well-equipped crossover with a usable boot and a relaxed drive for far less than the established badges ask, and on a rental the badge on the nose barely matters.

Why this is a value family pick

Exeed is Chery's upmarket label, and on a one-week rental the brand name is the least of your concerns. What you actually feel is the equipment. The LX comes loaded for its size: a big central screen, a digital driver display, soft-touch surfaces where rivals use hard plastic, keyless entry and a reversing camera. A family stepping out of an older economy hatch notices the difference in the first five minutes. You sit higher, you see more of the road, and the cabin feels finished rather than basic.

The drivetrain is honest about what this car is. It runs a 1.5-litre turbo through a CVT automatic, sending power to the front wheels. That setup is tuned for comfort, not for showing off. Around town it's smooth and quiet, which is exactly what you want crawling through Marina traffic or doing the airport loop with kids in the back.

Does my luggage fit

The boot holds 400 litres with the rear seats up. In practice that's one large hard case and a couple of soft bags, or two medium cases if you pack tidily. For a family of four on a week's stay it works, provided you're not bringing the whole wardrobe. Drop the rear seats and you free up enough room for a stroller plus a flat-pack run, or the kind of load a weekend at a holiday home needs.

If you're a group of four adults arriving at DXB with a full hard case each, this is the point where I'd be honest. You'll get three in the boot and one rides on a lap, or you size up to a midsize SUV. For two or three people, even with a child seat fitted, the space is comfortable.

Heat, cooling and the Dubai drive

Cabin cooling is the first thing renters ask about in summer, and rightly so. Park this anywhere uncovered in July and the interior bakes past anything comfortable. The LX's AC pulls a parked cabin down at a reasonable pace from the front vents, and there are rear vents so kids in the back aren't left waiting. Give it a few minutes with the fan up before you load everyone in. It copes with the high 40s, it just needs that head start like any car here does.

On the road the 1.5 turbo is relaxed rather than quick. Around the city it has more than enough for the cut and thrust. On Sheikh Zayed Road it cruises happily at the limit, though a hard overtake at speed asks the CVT to think before it delivers. Plan your moves a beat early and the E11 runs are easy. This is a comfort-led crossover, and treated that way it's a pleasant motorway companion. Push it like a sports SUV and you'll find where the relaxed tuning ends.

Ground clearance sits at 200 mm, which is plenty for Dubai's speed bumps, mall ramps and the steep dips into multi-storey parking. You won't scrape on a Marina ramp, and the higher view makes tight bays and U-turns easier to judge than a low hatch. Parking a compact SUV here is genuinely simple, helped by the reversing camera when you're reversing into a narrow mall bay.

How often will I refuel

The 51-litre tank paired with roughly 7.8 L/100km on the official figures means a fill goes a long way in normal use. Real Dubai driving with the AC working hard and stop-start traffic pushes consumption up, so expect a little thirstier than the brochure. Even so, a week of mixed city and highway driving on the included 250 km a day rarely needs more than one or two refuels. For most renters that's a single visit to the pump mid-week and you're sorted.

A few local rules to keep in mind. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you, so the Gates you cross and the limits you keep are on your tab. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat, and children under four need a child seat, which we can fit on request.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Exeed LX if you want a comfortable, well-kitted family crossover for the week and you'd rather spend your money on the trip than on a premium badge. For two or three people, school runs, mall trips and airport pickups, it's a lot of car and a lot of equipment for an easy rate, and the included 250 km a day covers most stays without a second thought.

Look elsewhere in two cases. If you're four adults with full luggage every day, a midsize SUV or a sedan saves you the boot juggle. And if highway overtaking pace and a badge that holds its name matter to you, an established compact SUV like a Tucson or a Sportage will feel more familiar, though you'll pay for the privilege. For everyone else who just wants room, comfort and kit without the markup, this is the sensible pick.
