Citroen C4 2024 - start from 184 AED / day

Want a compact five-door that puts comfort first, we deliver the Citroen C4 2024 to your door anywhere in Dubai inside one to two hours, fuelled and ready. This is the soft-riding, distinctively styled member of the small-crossover crowd, a raised hatch on a 136 hp turbo that's built around an easy life rather than a quick lap. If you and a partner, or a small family, care more about a settled ride and a car that looks like nothing else in the car park than about sharp handling or outright pace, the C4 makes a strong case. If you don't, there are flatter, faster alternatives, and this page is honest about both.

Who the C4 actually suits

The argument here is simple. The C4 is the comfort-and-character pick in a class full of sensible boxes. Its party trick is the suspension, which Citroen tunes deliberately soft so speed bumps, scarred tarmac and the patchwork around construction sites get smoothed off before they reach you. Over Dubai's endless community speed humps and the broken edges near building sites, that softness is a real daily benefit, not a brochure line.

The styling divides people, and that's worth saying plainly. The chunky lower cladding, split headlights and coupe-ish roofline read as a small SUV from some angles and a tall hatch from others. Some renters love that it stands out and others find it busy. You'll know which camp you're in within a day.

What you give up is sportiness. The soft setup leans in fast corners and the steering is light rather than precise, so push it hard on a slip road and it floats a little. For relaxed driving that never bothers you. For keen driving, look elsewhere.

Engine, pace and the highway

Under the bonnet sits a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder making 136 hp, paired with a smooth eight-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. Around town it's the right amount of car. The turbo wakes up early, so pulling away from lights and slotting into traffic is effortless, and the gearbox shuffles ratios without fuss.

On Sheikh Zayed Road it cruises at the limit happily and overtakes with enough in reserve, though the three-cylinder gets vocal when you ask for a hard, sudden surge. Zero to 100 km/h takes around ten seconds, fine for merging and keeping pace on the E11, just don't expect it to bury you in the seat. For two people and a week of mixed city and highway driving the engine is well judged. For a heavy right foot, it'll feel modest.

Heat, AC and the cabin

Dubai summers sit in the high 40s, and a car parked in the sun turns into an oven. The C4's air conditioning pulls a baking cabin down to comfortable within a few minutes, with strong front vents and outlets for rear passengers, so the back seat doesn't suffer on a school run or an airport transfer. Park in shade where you can and crack the windows for the first half-minute, and you'll be cool before the first roundabout. The seats are a Citroen highlight too, with extra foam that makes long stints genuinely restful.

Parking, ramps and city size

At 4350 mm long and 1800 mm wide, the C4 is compact enough for tight multi-storey bays and the steep ramps under Marina towers. The light steering that hurts it on a fast corner helps here, making U-turns and reverse parks easy. Ground clearance is 156 mm, raised enough to clear aggressive speed humps and mall ramp lips without scraping. It's an SUV-flavoured hatch, not a high-riding off-roader, so keep it to sealed roads.

Boot space and luggage

The C4 holds 380 litres with the rear seats up, expanding to around 1250 litres folded. In practical terms that's two large suitcases plus a couple of soft bags for a DXB or DWC airport run, or a full week of mall hauls and grocery runs for a small family. Four adults with four hard cases will find it tight, and that's the honest line where you'd size up to a sedan or a larger crossover.

Fuel, refuelling and Dubai running

The 50-litre tank and the efficient turbo three keep fuel a small worry. Expect around 6 to 7 litres per 100 km in real Dubai mixed driving, more in heavy summer-AC crawl, which works out to roughly 700 km of range between fills. On a typical week you'll visit the pump once, maybe twice with daily highway runs. As the renter you cover Salik tolls at the gantries and any RTA fines pass to you, so keep to the limits. Children under four need a child seat, which we can fit on request.

The verdict

Rent the C4 if comfort and individuality are what you're after. For a couple or a small family who want a cushioned ride over Dubai's bumps, a cabin that cools fast, easy parking and a car that doesn't look like everything else, it's a genuinely likeable choice for a week. The soft handling and modest pace are the price of that comfort, and they're easy to live with unless you drive hard. If you want sharper steering, more urgency or a higher driving position, a conventional hatch or a proper small SUV will suit you better. But if a relaxed, distinctive five-door sounds like your kind of week, the C4 earns its place on the drive.
