Chevrolet Captiva 2026 - start from 242 AED / day

Need a third row without stepping up to a big body-on-frame SUV? We rent the Chevrolet Captiva 2026 in Dubai with a no-deposit option, so you can put a seven-seater on your card without a large hold sitting against your balance all week. This is the affordable family SUV play: three rows, a high seating position, and a rate that suits budget-minded families more than badge-chasers. The trade is honesty about what a 1.5-litre turbo can do once all seven seats are full, and how little boot you get behind a third row that's up. We'll tell you where the Captiva fits and where you should size up.

What you're actually renting

The Captiva is a front-wheel-drive midsize SUV with a 1.5-litre turbo three-cylinder, 144 horsepower, and a CVT automatic. It seats seven across three rows, which is the whole reason most people pick it over a five-seat crossover at a similar rate.

That engine is the headline caveat. With two people aboard it's fine around town and merges onto Sheikh Zayed Road without drama. Fill all three rows and add luggage, and the turbo has to work for it. You feel the CVT hunting for revs on long inclines and hard overtakes on the E11. It's adequate, not eager. If you regularly carry six or seven adults at highway speed, that's where a larger engine earns its keep.

Will my family and luggage fit

Seven seats sounds like a lot until you sit in them. The first two rows are genuinely comfortable, with usable legroom and head height for adults up front and growing kids in the middle. The third row is best treated as occasional, for two children or short hops with adults who won't complain. For a school run with a few kids and the odd extra passenger, it's the right size.

The boot is where you need to be realistic. With the third row folded flat, there's a proper amount of cargo space, enough for a family's weekly shop or a few large cases. Raise that row for passengers and the space behind it shrinks to almost nothing, room for a couple of soft bags and not much else. So you're choosing per trip: seven people or full luggage, rarely both. A DXB airport run with five passengers and their cases works if you fold one side of the third row. Six or seven people plus airport luggage is where the Captiva runs out of room, and a bigger SUV makes more sense.

Heat, AC and the rear rows

Dubai summers push into the high 40s, and a parked Captiva in July gets brutally hot inside. The front air conditioning is strong and pulls the cabin down at a reasonable pace once you're moving, though like most cars in this class the first few minutes after a midday park are a sweat. What to check for a full load is rear airflow. Front and middle rows cool quickly. The third row sits furthest from the vents and takes longer, so if you're carrying kids back there on a hot afternoon, give it a head start before you load them in. It's a budget family SUV, not a luxury climate setup, and it behaves like one.

Driving it around Dubai

At 4655 mm long it's a midsize footprint, easy enough to place in mall multi-storey bays and Marina ramps once you've got a feel for it, though it's not a compact you can flick into any gap. The 180 mm ground clearance clears speed bumps and raised ramps without scraping, and the high seating position gives you the commanding view that sells SUVs in the first place. On the open road it cruises calmly at legal speeds. It just doesn't have much in reserve above 100 with a heavy load.

A few Dubai rules to keep straight. Salik tolls run on your account and get passed to you, and any RTA speed or parking fines do the same, so drive it like the charges are yours, because they are. Seat belts are mandatory in every row, including the third, and children under four need a proper child seat.

Fuel and refuelling

The 52-litre tank paired with roughly 6.9 L/100km on the combined cycle gives you a comfortable real-world range. Dubai driving rarely matches the lab figure once you factor in heavy AC use and stop-start traffic, so expect to do a little worse than the brochure. Even so, a week of city errands and a couple of airport runs won't have you at the pump constantly. Plan on filling up maybe once or twice across a typical week, and petrol here is cheap enough that the difference barely registers.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Captiva if you're a family that needs occasional third-row seats and wants the cheapest sensible way to get them. Two adults, a few kids, the school run, the mall, weekend trips with the back row mostly folded for cargo: that's its sweet spot, and the rate makes it easy to justify.

Don't rent it if you'll routinely carry six or seven adults at highway speed, or if you need a full boot and a full third row at once. For that, and for anyone planning serious desert or rough-track driving, step up to a larger body-on-frame SUV with a bigger engine and proper cargo room. The Captiva is an honest, affordable seven-seater for light family use, and as long as you respect those limits it does the job well.
