Rent a Rolls-Royce Cullinan 2024 in Dubai and the first thing you notice from the back seat on Sheikh Zayed Road is what is missing: road noise, engine strain, the small jolts every other SUV passes on to its occupants. None of that effort reaches the cabin as noise. The V12 stays close to silent at a cruise, the gearbox changes ratio without a bump, and the air suspension reads the road ahead and softens for it. From the back, where most Cullinan renters actually sit, all that engineering feels like nothing at all, which is the achievement.

The back seat, and the luggage that comes with it

Look at the cabin from a passenger's angle and the design choices make sense. The rear bench sits noticeably higher than the front seats, so the two people in it see over the traffic ahead rather than through the windows of the car in front. Both outer seats are wide, deeply cushioned and set apart enough that two adults do not touch shoulders on a long run to the airport. It is a five-seat car, not a seven, and that is the right count for how people actually book it: a couple, a small family, or an executive with a colleague, never a full load of bodies competing for legroom.

The boot holds 560 litres behind the rear seats, enough for two large cases and a couple of soft bags without folding anything down, which covers a proper airport transfer or a week of luggage for two. Drop the bench and it opens to roughly 1,930 litres, but that is rarely the point of renting one of these. Move four adults and a full week of suitcases between them and the boot runs out of room before the cabin does.

Grey paint, glass roof and a Dubai afternoon

The grey on this car is a small practical advantage over the black paint on some of our other Cullinans. It reflects more of a July afternoon than a dark colour does, so the cabin does not soak up quite as much heat while it sits parked at a villa or a hotel forecourt. That said, the glass roof panel overhead works against it, letting a lot of sun straight into the cabin during the hottest hours. Give the car a minute or two to recover after it has sat in the sun. The climate system is strong and reaches the rear vents properly rather than leaving the back seat to a trickle off the dash, but it needs that head start on a 45-degree day, not a cold blast the moment the doors open.

Size is the other honest caveat, and it belongs here because it shapes where you can comfortably take the car. At over 5.3 metres long and two metres wide across the body, wider again with the mirrors out, the Cullinan asks for care in a Marina tower's parking levels or a packed mall structure. The air suspension lifts for steep ramps and speed bumps, so scraping the nose is not the worry. Threading between two support pillars is. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental are yours to settle, seat belts are required in every seat, and a child under four needs a proper seat even in a car this size.

Who the Cullinan suits, and who should look elsewhere

Book the Cullinan 2024 when the back seat is where your week actually happens: a wedding arrival, an airport welcome, a run of business meetings where you want to work rather than drive. For that use it has no real rival in our fleet, and the 250-kilometre daily allowance covers that kind of city movement comfortably, with anything past it billed at AED 0.5 a kilometre. You need to be 25 to take the keys, and because this sits in our most expensive class, a refundable deposit applies. Do not expect a no-deposit option on this one.

If you are the one driving yourself through a normal week of meetings and errands, this is not the efficient choice.
