Most renters assume a Rolls-Royce means sitting in the back while someone else drives. The Rolls-Royce Ghost 2022 breaks that assumption: it's quiet and composed enough for the rear seat, yet genuinely satisfying to drive yourself down Sheikh Zayed Road, which is why plenty of people who rent it in Dubai never open the back doors all week. We hand it over at your hotel, villa or terminal, usually within one to two hours of booking, finished in white with five seats and the full 6.75-litre V12 underneath. This page works out whether you're renting the Ghost to drive or to be driven in, because that answer decides what you actually need from it.
Under the bonnet is a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 sending 563 hp and 850 Nm through an eight-speed automatic, with all-wheel drive and four-wheel steering doing the quiet work most people never notice. That steering is the real story if you're driving. It turns the rear wheels against the fronts at low speed, so a saloon over 5.5 metres long makes a U-turn or slots into a tight bay with far less fuss than the length suggests. At speed the same system stabilises the car through a fast lane change, which matters more on E11 than most renters expect.
The ride is the other half of the answer. Rolls-Royce reads the road ahead with a camera and softens the suspension before a bump arrives, so expansion joints and patched tarmac disappear under you instead of announcing themselves. Next to the Cullinan, the Ghost sits lower and drives with more feedback through the wheel. Next to a Phantom, it's noticeably more eager to be hustled, though eager is relative in a two-and-a-half-tonne car. If you want the badge and the composure but plan to actually enjoy the drive, this is the one in the range built for that.

The rear-hinged coach doors are still the detail everyone photographs, and they earn it. Step out and you open into the kerb and rise facing forward, rather than folding yourself sideways out of a normal door, which matters at a hotel entrance or a wedding more than it sounds like it should. Two in the back sit on wide, deeply padded seats with proper legroom and their own climate zone. The fifth, middle seat is fine for a short hop but nobody's choice for a real journey.
Some cars on this generation carry the Starlight Headliner, the fibre-optic roof lining that turns the cabin into something closer to a private jet after dark, though it's an option rather than a guarantee on every unit, so don't book expecting a specific configuration. What is consistent is the material quality: deep leather, real wood, and a hush at speed that a German luxury saloon doesn't quite match. The boot holds 507 litres, enough for two large cases and the soft bags for a DXB or DWC run. Pack four adults for a full week each, and the cases start competing with each other before the cabin does.
Heat is the honest part of a Dubai summer with a car this size. A big cabin under this much glass takes real work to cool after it's sat in a July car park, and the first few minutes ask a lot of the system. It gets there, and the rear vents actually deliver cold air rather than a trickle off the dash, but for a pickup or an event, have someone start it and let it settle before anyone climbs back in.
The size is the other adjustment. At over 5.5 metres and close to two metres wide, the Ghost fills a standard bay, and the four-wheel steering is the only reason a Marina or mall car park is manageable rather than a slow crawl with a spotter. Take speed bumps and steep ramps gently since it sits low, and treat every scrape as expensive, because it is. That's also why a refundable deposit applies here rather than the no-deposit option we offer on smaller cars.
Running costs follow the size. The 82-litre tank takes premium and the V12 uses roughly 16.7 litres per 100 km, so plan on stopping more than you would in an ordinary sedan across a week of city driving. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental are the renter's responsibility, seat belts are mandatory in every seat, and children under four need a proper child seat regardless of what's driving them around.
Take the Ghost 2022 if you want to drive a Rolls yourself and still have a rear seat worth using when someone else takes over, for a wedding week, a business trip where you're behind the wheel most days, or simply the chance to own DIFC and the coast road in something this quiet. The 250-kilometre daily allowance comfortably covers city driving, with AED 0.5 for every kilometre past it, and you'll need to be 25 to collect the keys.
Look either side of it in two situations. If the back seat is the whole point and you want the longest, most formal cabin Rolls-Royce makes, the Phantom is built for that and the Ghost won't match it. If you'd rather sit higher, want SUV presence for a desert-edge venue, or simply need more ground clearance, the Cullinan does that job instead. Somewhere between the two, the Ghost is the Rolls-Royce for people who want the badge and still want to drive. Book it for that reason, respect the ramps and the kerbs, and it's worth the deposit.
