Picture a week in Dubai with the kids, a couple of strollers and a run to DXB at the end of it, and you start to see where the Mini Countryman 2025 fits. It is the biggest Mini ever built, and we rent it in Dubai as what it has actually become, a proper five-seat premium crossover rather than a novelty small car. We bring it to your hotel or home, usually within one to two hours of booking, with debit card or cash fine at handover. What this page settles is one question: whether the Countryman's Mini character and all-wheel-drive pace are worth paying over a mainstream crossover that seats the same family.

What you're actually renting

This generation grew up. At about 4.44 metres the Countryman is longer and taller than any Mini before it, and that extra size is the whole story, because it finally has the room to work as a family car. It shares its bones with the BMW X1, so underneath the round screens and the toggle switches is a genuinely capable compact SUV.

The badge is what you're paying for. Line the Countryman up against a Tucson or a Creta of similar footprint and the Mini gives you the styling, the cabin theatre and a quick all-wheel-drive setup. What it doesn't give you is more space than those cars for the money. That is the trade, and it is worth being clear-eyed about before you book.

Space, boot and five real seats

Practically, the Countryman now seats five without anyone suffering. Two adults sit high and settled up front, and the rear bench takes two grown adults or three kids across without a knee-room negotiation. That alone puts it ahead of every older Mini.

The boot holds 450 litres, which is two large airport cases plus a soft bag loaded flat, and dropping the rear seats opens it to around 1,450 litres for the bulky stuff. For a family DXB pickup it copes without the packing puzzle a smaller car forces on you. Be honest about the ceiling, though. This is premium-compact space, not full-size SUV space. Four adults plus a week of hard cases is the point where you'd want to size up to something bigger.

The drive, and keeping it cool in July

Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre turbo four sending around 300 hp through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and ALL4 all-wheel drive. This is the quick version, 0 to 100 km/h in roughly 5.2 seconds, and it feels it. A merge onto Sheikh Zayed Road or an overtake at speed happens the moment you ask, and the car stays planted rather than nervous. For a family crossover, that pace is a genuine bonus rather than a gimmick.

ALL4 is where people get the wrong idea. It is real all-wheel drive and it helps traction in the wet or on a loose graded surface, but this rides on road tyres with about 200 mm of clearance. Read it as a refined tarmac crossover that will handle the graded track to a desert villa and clear speed bumps and mall ramps without scraping, not a dune machine. Keep it off soft sand. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental come back to you, as on any car here.

On heat, the Countryman is on the right side of the fight. A mid-size cabin like this holds less air to shift, so the front vents pull the temperature down quickly once the fan is up. Rear passengers get their own vents, which earns its keep on a school run or an airport drop with the back full. This one wears blue paint, which is easier on a Dubai afternoon than black but still bakes after a few hours in an open lot. Give it a minute after you climb back in, and a windscreen shade while it's parked makes the first stretch noticeably easier.

Who should rent it, and who should look elsewhere

Rent the Mini Countryman 2025 if you want the Mini character and a premium feel in a car that still does the ordinary family week. It is quick, it cools fast, it parks easily at under 4.5 metres, and for the first time a Countryman genuinely has room for people and their bags. Delivered to your door, it is a distinctive way to spend a week here.

Look elsewhere in two cases. If you are regularly four adults with a full load of airport luggage, a mid-size SUV gives you the extra room the Mini's footprint can't. And if all you need is to move a family and their cases reliably, a Tucson or a Creta does exactly that for a good deal less, and you'd never miss the badge on the school run. As a premium car the Countryman rents against a deposit rather than a no-deposit deal, so plan for that at booking. Your allowance is 250 km a day, then AED 0.5 for each extra kilometre, and you need to be 21 to take the keys.
