We hand over the Mini Countryman 2024 with no deposit on the card, which already separates this rental from most of the market. This is the biggest Mini you can rent in Dubai, a premium compact crossover with a turbo petrol engine, all-wheel drive and proper go-kart steering. It rents to people who want a car with character and a quality cabin, not the sensible silver default everyone else parks. So the real question this page answers is simple. Is the Countryman worth paying more for personality and feel, or should you size up to a roomier mainstream SUV for the same week and the same money.
This particular car is the hot one. The engine puts out 306 horsepower through all four wheels, and it'll do nought to 100 in 5.1 seconds, which is genuinely quick for a five-seat crossover. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h, not that you'll see it on the way to the mall.
Most renters won't use that performance, and that's fine. What you feel every day is the steering. The Countryman turns in sharply and stays flat through a roundabout, and on a fast on-ramp it feels planted in a way mainstream crossovers this size don't. The trade-off is the ride. It's firm and a little busy over Dubai's patched tarmac and tram-line joints, so a motorway cruise is comfortable but a rough side street keeps you informed.
The cabin is where the money shows. The big round OLED screen, the toggle switches and the fabric dash give it a look nothing else at this size matches, and after a week you notice that quality more than the badge.

The boot holds 450 litres, which is the most usable space any Mini gives you. In practice that's two large suitcases stood upright plus a couple of soft bags, or a big airport run for two people with room over. The rear seats slide, so you can trade legroom for boot when you need to.
Where it gets honest is four adults plus luggage. The back seats are fine for two grown-ups and good for kids, but with a third in the middle and a full boot for a DXB or DWC airport run, it's tight. A family of five with a week of cases should look at a larger mainstream SUV instead. The Countryman is roomy for a Mini, not roomy for the class.
At 4.43 metres long it slots into Dubai parking without drama. Multi-storey bays, Marina ramps and tight U-turns are all easy. Ground clearance sits around 200 mm, so steep mall ramps and the aggressive speed bumps around residential blocks clear without that scrape you get in a low sedan. The all-wheel drive is there for grip and confidence, not for dune bashing, so treat this as a tarmac car that handles a graded track, not a desert tool.
Summer matters here. When it's 45 outside and the car's been baking in a surface lot, the Countryman's AC pulls a cabin this size down to comfortable in a few minutes, helped by the smaller volume of air to chill. Rear passengers get vents too, so a back seat full of kids isn't left to roast.
On fuel, the official combined figure is around 8 L/100km, but a real Dubai week of stop-start traffic and short trips with the AC working hard sits closer to 9 to 10. With the 54-litre tank you'll get a few hundred kilometres of mixed driving between fills, so most renters top up once a week, maybe twice if you're running the airport a lot. The included 250 km a day covers normal use without thinking about it.
A note on costs that catch people out. Salik tolls run on your rental and get billed to you, and any RTA speeding or parking fine passes to the renter, so keep it sensible on Sheikh Zayed Road where this car will happily sit above the limit. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat, and children under four need a child seat, which we can fit before delivery.
On the E11 the Countryman is in its element. It overtakes with ease, holds a line at speed and feels secure in a way that makes a long DXB run relaxed. Around town the size and steering make it genuinely easy to live with. The firm ride is the only real daily compromise, and you'll notice it most on broken side roads rather than the smooth main arteries.
Rent the Countryman if you want a Dubai week with some personality, a cabin that feels a class above and handling that makes ordinary errands more fun, and you're happy to pay a premium over a mainstream crossover for that feel. Two adults, or two adults and two kids, are the sweet spot. If your priority is pure space for four or five adults with full luggage, or you want the softest possible ride for long motorway days, size up to a larger mainstream SUV and spend the difference on legroom instead. For the right driver, the Countryman is the most enjoyable thing in its size class we hand over.
