There's a version of the E-Class that gives you real pace without tipping into the AMG bracket, and the Mercedes E 300 2024 is it. We rent it in Dubai with a no-deposit plan available at checkout and doorstep delivery in one to two hours, so booking is quick. This is the W214 E-Class with the stronger 255 hp turbo and a 48-volt mild-hybrid layer, and it sits one rung above the value E 200 and just below the E 350. The decision this page settles is which of those three you actually need. Our take: if you want the executive sedan to feel genuinely brisk on the highway, not just comfortable, the E 300 is the one that hits the mark without overspending.
The E-Class line is a ladder, and the E 300 lands in the most sensible spot on it. The E 200 below it is a relaxed cruiser, fine for steady motorway miles but unhurried when you ask for a hard overtake. The E 350 above it adds a little more shove and a slightly higher rate. The E 300 takes the middle: 255 hp from a 2.0-litre turbo four, with 23 hp of electric assist from the mild-hybrid system, sent to the rear wheels through the nine-speed automatic.
In practice that means the car responds the instant you ask. The hybrid fills the brief gap before the turbo wakes, so pulling out to pass a slow lorry on the way to Abu Dhabi is one smooth movement rather than a downshift and a wait. For most renters this is the right amount of engine: quick when you want it, calm when you don't.

Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 are where the E 300 makes its case. At a national-limit cruise it's quiet and planted, the rear-drive chassis settled, and the extra power means you're never caught short reaching for an overtake. A run out to Abu Dhabi or up to Ras Al Khaimah leaves you fresh rather than worn, which is the whole point of renting a car at this level. For airport transfers to DXB or DWC it's equally at home, an easy, refined way to cover ground with luggage and passengers aboard.
Cabin cooling matters from May through September, and the E 300 handles it well. Parked in an open lot at 45 degrees the interior gets hot like anything else, but the climate system drops it to comfortable within a few minutes of pulling away. The front vents are strong and there are rear outlets, so passengers in the back aren't left baking while the front cools, which counts when you're carrying clients or family on a hot drive. Crack the windows for the first half-minute to vent the worst of the trapped heat and it's ready before you've cleared the ramp.
The 66-litre tank gives this car proper range. In city driving with the AC working against a summer afternoon, expect around 9 to 10 km/L, and a steady highway week pushes the total toward the 916 km mark on a tank. For a normal Dubai week of meetings, dinners, and a couple of airport runs, that's a single fill, maybe two if you're doing daily long hauls. Fuel here is cheap, so the cost worth tracking is Salik. Every gantry you pass adds a toll billed to you, and any RTA fines during the rental are yours too.
The boot holds 540 litres, deep and easy to load, taking two large suitcases plus soft bags or a golf bag without a fight. The cabin seats five with real room in the back, so four colleagues or a family of four travel comfortably. The one trip that stretches it is four adults each with a full-size airport case, where a tall-load SUV makes more sense. The trade-off for all that space is length: at nearly five metres the E 300 asks for care in tight Marina bays and on steep multi-storey ramps. The cameras and sensors handle most of it, and the 131 mm of ground clearance means steep ramp lips and aggressive speed bumps want taking slowly. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat, and under-fours need a child seat, which we'll fit on request.
Rent the E 300 2024 if you want a genuinely brisk, refined executive sedan for a Dubai week of highway driving, airport runs, and longer inter-emirate trips, and you'd rather have power in hand than wish for it. It's the best-judged engine in the E-Class range for the way most people drive here.
Drop to the E 200 if your week is gentle city and steady cruising and you won't lean on the extra power, since it saves you money for nearly the same presence. Step up to the E 350 only if you want the strongest pull in the standard range. And if the daily job is five people plus everyone's airport luggage, look at an SUV; the E 300's boot is good, but a tall load space it isn't. For most renters at this level, the E 300 is the sweet spot.
