Payment stays flexible on a Mercedes C300 2021, settled on delivery once the car reaches you, so you can book the badge without paying anything up front. We rent the C300 across Dubai as a compact executive sedan: a quiet, well-built four-door that hands you a premium cabin and a smooth turbo without the bulk of a full-size luxury car. That is the case this page makes. The C300 is comfort-led rather than quick, the rear seat and boot sit firmly in the compact class, and the options that dress these cars up vary from one example to the next. Read on for where it shines and where you should size up.
Think of it as the entry into proper Mercedes saloons. Under the bonnet sits a 2.0-litre turbocharged four making 255 hp, paired with the 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic. That is plenty for daily driving and confident overtaking, but it isn't an AMG. Power builds smoothly rather than violently, and the car would rather waft than charge. If your priority is the badge, a hushed cabin and a comfortable ride, that suits the C300 well.
Most examples are rear-wheel drive, though 4MATIC all-wheel-drive cars turn up too. For Dubai roads the difference barely matters day to day. Either way you get the same refined turbo and the same easy gearbox.
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Engine | 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 petrol |
| Transmission | 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic |
| Drivetrain | Rear-wheel drive (4MATIC AWD on some cars) |
| Seats | 5 |
| Power | 255 hp |
| Fuel economy | ~11 km/L city, 14 km/L highway |
| Tank | 66 litres |
| Range | ~750 km combined |
| Length | 4691 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2840 mm |
| Boot | 455 litres |
| Ground clearance | 117 mm |
| Colours | Polar White, Obsidian Black, Iridium Silver, Selenite Grey, Brilliant Blue and other metallics |
This is where the C300 earns its money. The interior feels a class above the price suggests, with soft materials, a clean dash and a genuinely quiet ride at speed. Two adults up front travel in real comfort.
Cooling matters more than anything here in summer, and the C300 handles a baked cabin well. After a few hours parked in 45-degree sun the front vents pull the temperature down quickly once you get moving, and the rear passengers get their own outlets behind the centre console. A family of four stays comfortable on a school run without anyone in the back roasting. Drop the windows for the first minute to dump the trapped heat and the AC does the rest.
Be honest with yourself about size. The C300 is a compact executive sedan, not a big car. Up front it's roomy. In the back, two adults are fine for a cross-town trip, but a third in the middle or a long highway leg with tall passengers gets tight, and knee room behind a tall driver is modest.
The 455-litre boot is the deciding number for airport runs. It swallows two large suitcases plus a couple of soft bags comfortably, which covers a couple or a small family flying in through DXB or DWC. Four adults with four hard cases is where it strains. If that's your group, an E-Class or a larger SUV makes the trip far less of a packing puzzle.
On Sheikh Zayed Road the C300 is in its element. It cruises quietly at highway speed, the cabin stays calm, and there's enough mid-range to slot into a gap and overtake without drama. This is a car that makes a long E11 run feel short.
Around town it's easy to place. The footprint is compact enough for mall multi-storey bays and Marina ramps, and the steering is light at parking speed. Ground clearance is the one thing to watch. At 117 mm it sits low, so take aggressive speed bumps and steep ramp lips slowly and at an angle. Treat it gently and it won't scrape.
A few local rules apply to any rental. Salik tolls run up automatically as you pass the gantries and come back to you, and any RTA fines during your hire are the renter's responsibility too. If you're travelling with a child under four, a child seat is required, so flag that when you book and we'll sort it.
The turbo four is reasonably frugal for a car this refined. Expect roughly 11 km per litre in city traffic and around 14 on the highway, which from the 66-litre tank gives a real-world range near 750 km. In practice a week of mixed Dubai driving means filling up maybe once, twice if you're commuting a long way daily. It takes regular petrol, so there's no premium-fuel penalty to budget around.
Rent the C300 if you want a premium Mercedes saloon for stylish daily driving, airport pickups and SZR cruising, and you're a couple or a small family who values a quiet, plush cabin over outright pace or maximum space. For that brief it's hard to fault, and the easy parking and strong AC make it a comfortable companion through a Dubai summer.
Size up to an E-Class if you regularly carry four adults with luggage or want stretch-out rear room. Look at a sportier rival, like a BMW 3 Series, if you care more about how the car drives than how it pampers. Remember too that these cars vary in trim and options from one example to the next, so the badge is consistent but the kit isn't always. For most people who want Mercedes refinement in a size that fits Dubai's car parks, the C300 is the sensible pick.
