And if running cost is the deciding factor, note the 80-litre tank wants premium fuel and a keen right foot empties it fast in city traffic, so budget for regular stops.

A few Dubai practicalities before you book. Salik tolls and any RTA fines pass to you, seat belts are mandatory in every seat, and this is a luxury car, so expect a refundable deposit and a comprehensive-insurance excess rather than a no-deposit deal. The daily allowance is 250 km, extra kilometres run at AED 0.5 each, and you need to be 25 to take the keys. Rent it for the sound and the exclusivity. Just do not rent it expecting German back-seat space or a bargain at the pump.
