Maserati Ghibli 2021 - start from 481 AED / day

We hand over the Maserati Ghibli 2021 across Dubai with doorstep delivery in one to two hours, so the car arrives where you are rather than you queuing at a desk for it. This is a luxury sport sedan that rents on a different premise from the German default. People take a Ghibli for the trident on the nose, the noise out of the back, and a shape that nobody mistakes for an A6 or an E-Class. The S Q4 here runs a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 with 430 hp and all-wheel drive, and it sounds like it. What follows is honest about where that drama is worth it and where an older platform shows its age.

The case for the Ghibli over a German sedan

The argument is simple. If you want presence and character for a week in Dubai, the Ghibli delivers more of both than almost anything at this rate. The V6 is Ferrari-built, and on Sheikh Zayed Road it pulls hard and growls in a way a quiet four-cylinder executive saloon never will. People look. That matters to some renters and not at all to others, and you should know which one you are before you book.

What you give up is polish. The Ghibli first launched in 2013 and the 2021 car rides on that same bones. The infotainment, the switchgear, the rear-seat tech all trail a current 5-Series or E-Class. If your priority is the slickest cabin and the quietest cruise, a German sedan does that better. The Ghibli trades some of that for soul.

How it drives in Dubai

On the open highway the Ghibli is in its element. It's quick, stable at speed, and the AWD gives it composure that a rear-drive rival lacks when you put the power down. Cruising the E11 between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, it settles into a long-legged stride and the engine has plenty in reserve for an overtake.

Around town it asks more of you. At 4.97 metres it's a long car, and the modest ground clearance means you take mall ramps and speed bumps at an angle and slowly. Marina basements and tight multi-storey bays are doable but you won't enjoy threading it through a packed lot. The steering is meatier than most luxury sedans, which is fun on a flowing road and a touch of work in stop-start traffic.

Speed enforcement here is strict and the cameras are everywhere. The Ghibli will gather pace faster than you expect, so watch the limits. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental are billed to you, and seatbelts are required in every seat.

Heat and the cabin in summer

Dubai summers sit in the mid-40s, and a dark car parked in the sun gets brutal inside. The Ghibli's climate system is effective once it's running, with strong front vents and rear outlets so back-seat passengers aren't left to bake. Give it a few minutes to pull a heat-soaked cabin down from oven temperature before you expect comfort. Park in shade or a basement when you can. The leather gets hot fast, which is the price of a proper luxury interior anywhere in the Gulf.

Space, boot and who fits

Up front the Ghibli is genuinely comfortable and the seats are excellent for long drives. The back is the weak point. Legroom is fine for two adults on a short hop, but the sloping roofline and that ageing platform make it tighter than the German rivals for three across or for taller passengers.

The boot holds 500 litres, which handles a DXB or DWC airport run for two people with a couple of large cases and soft bags. Load four adults with full luggage for a week and it's snug. If that's your group, size up to a full-size SUV instead of forcing it.

Running cost and refuelling

This is a performance V6, so be realistic. The combined figure is around 12.1 L/100 km, and in Dubai heat with the AC working and some spirited driving you'll see more than that. The 80-litre tank gives a sensible range, but a hard week means you'll fill up a couple of times. Nobody rents a Ghibli to save fuel.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Ghibli if you want a week with character: the badge, the V6 soundtrack, and a sedan that stands apart from the German pack on Sheikh Zayed Road and outside a hotel forecourt. For a couple, a confident solo driver, or anyone who books a car for how it feels rather than how it spec-sheets, it's a genuinely enjoyable choice and rare on Dubai's roads.

Skip it if you need the most modern cabin tech, the quietest motorway manners, or real rear-seat room for three adults. For polish, a German executive sedan does it better. For four adults plus airport luggage, an SUV is the smarter call. Note that stricter security terms may apply on a car of this value, so confirm the requirements when you book.
