Some cars get you from the hotel to the restaurant. The Lamborghini Urus 2022 turns the drive itself into the part of the evening people remember. We hand it over at your door in Dubai, usually within one to two hours, with 250 km a day built into the rental, which is enough for a long dinner run down the coast and back without watching a meter. This is the super-SUV you book when an ordinary week needs to feel like an occasion: 650 hp under a tailgate-friendly body, supercar acceleration, and four people who can actually come along. The question this page settles is whether that statement is worth the thirst and the firmness that come with it.
The Urus pairs a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with all-wheel drive and a fast eight-speed automatic. That's 650 hp doing 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, quicker than most things you'll line up next to at the lights. The noise on start-up and the surge past 80 are half of why people rent it. The other half is the look: park it outside a Marina restaurant and it reads as an event, not a rental. What separates it from a low-slung supercar is that the boot and the back seats are real.

A 650 hp V8 does not sip. The official combined figure is around 16.8 L/100 km, and in Dubai stop-and-go with the AC working hard, you'll do worse. On the 85-litre tank, expect to refuel every 350 to 400 km of mixed city driving, sooner if you keep using the throttle, which you will. Stick to premium fuel. For a few days of short, high-impact drives this barely registers. If your plan is long daily highway distances all week, the fuel bill adds up faster than people expect.
Yes, for most trips. The boot swallows a couple of large suitcases plus soft bags, so a DXB or DWC airport run for two with a week's luggage is no problem. Four travelling with full hard cases each is where it gets tight, and you'd start folding a rear seat. The cabin seats five on paper but is most comfortable as a four. A fifth in the middle is a short-hop seat, not a cross-emirate one.
In June and July a parked Urus bakes, and the dark interior holds heat. The AC is strong, though, and pulls a sealed cabin down quickly, with rear vents so back-seat passengers aren't left out. Give it a couple of minutes after a midday handover before you expect it to feel cool, and use the ventilated seats if your car has them. It copes with 45°C far better than the cabin's first thirty seconds suggest.
This is the catch nobody mentions when they're staring at the engine. The Urus is over two metres wide with the mirrors out, and that width is the real daily friction. Tight bays in older malls and some Marina towers are a slow, careful business, and you'll want the cameras and sensors doing their job. The front sits low for an SUV at 158 mm of clearance, so take steep mall ramps and aggressive speed bumps slowly and at an angle, or you'll catch the splitter.
None of this is a dealbreaker. It just means the Urus rewards a confident driver happy to take a few extra seconds in a bay.
Sheikh Zayed Road is where this car makes the most sense. It cruises at the limit without effort and overtakes with a flex of your right foot, and the presence in the mirror tends to clear the lane ahead. The ride is firm by SUV standards, taut rather than plush, so worn surfaces come through more than they would in a quiet luxury SUV. Most renters trade that off happily for how it handles. Salik tolls, RTA fines, and speed-camera penalties pass to you as the renter, and Dubai's enforcement is automatic and unforgiving at the speeds this car invites, so watch the limits. Seatbelts are mandatory in every seat. Stricter security terms may apply on a car at this level, so confirm the deposit and driver requirements at booking.
Rent the Urus if the point of the trip is to be seen and to feel the drive: an anniversary, a launch, a milestone birthday, a few days where the car is part of the story. It delivers presence and real pace while still carrying four people and their bags, which almost nothing else at this level does.
Skip it if you mostly want quiet, supple comfort for long airport runs and family errands, or if you'd rather not think about a heavy fuel bill and squeezing two metres of width into tight bays. For that, a Bentley Bentayga or a Range Rover does the luxury-SUV job with far less drama. But if you want a Dubai week that turns heads, the Urus is the right car to make it one.
