Rent Lamborghini Urus 2020 in Dubai

A Dubai week that runs from a DIFC meeting to the school gate to a Friday-night hotel entrance is exactly where the Lamborghini Urus 2020 earns its keep as a rental. It's the rare car that makes an entrance and still carries five people and their bags. We deliver it to your villa, hotel or the airport, usually within one to two hours of booking. On the move

The Urus runs a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, 650 hp, through an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. It reaches 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and tops out at 305 km/h, a figure Dubai's limits will never let you use. What counts day to day is the mid-range. On Sheikh Zayed Road an overtake is one clean surge and you're past, no drama and no downshift you have to think about. The all-wheel drive hooks the power up so well that even a hard launch just goes.

The noise is part of why people book it. Switch to Sport and the V8 turns deliberately loud, and on a night run through Downtown that theatre is most of the appeal.

The ride is the trade-off. On the big wheels it wears, ridged tarmac and expansion joints come through firmly, and it fidgets more than a normal luxury SUV over speed bumps. It's a performance car that happens to be tall. The air suspension lifts the body for ramps and bumps, but this is a two-tonne SUV on road tyres, not a dune car. Keep it off the sand. A soft desert track out past Al Qudra is no place for a car worth this much.

Where it beats a supercar

This is the whole reason you'd take a Urus over something lower and louder. It's a genuine five-seater with a 616-litre boot, so two up front travel in comfort and three fit across the back for city hops and airport runs. Fold the rear seats down and the load bay opens right up.

For a DXB or DWC pickup, that boot takes two large cases and a few soft bags without a struggle. A two-seat supercar simply can't. If your Dubai week involves people and luggage as much as presence, the Urus is the one car that covers both jobs.

Size is what you pay for it. The Urus is just over two metres wide across the body, wider still with the mirrors out, and more than five metres long. In a tight Marina tower bay or a narrow mall multi-storey, you'll be folding the mirrors and taking your time. The raised suspension clears the steep ramps and high speed bumps that scrape low cars, so that part is easy. Threading between two pillars is the part that takes patience.

Coping with the summer heat

Leave it in an open car park in July and the dash can read close to 50 by the time you climb back in. The climate system pulls the cabin down fast, front and rear, so a full car of passengers all get cold air rather than the back two waiting it out. The grey paint takes on a little less heat than a dark car would. Give it the first minute and it settles.

Inside is where the money shows. The cabin feels special every time you get in, not only when you're pushing it, and for plenty of renters that alone is reason enough to keep the car a week rather than an afternoon.

Who it's for

Rent the Urus 2020 if you want the Lamborghini badge and pace but still have to move a family, colleagues or luggage across the week. It's the one car that does both, and it parks outside a Dubai hotel with more presence than almost anything.

Skip it in two cases. If it's just you and one passenger chasing noise and drama, a Huracan gives you sharper theatre for less. If you actually want a calm, quiet family SUV for a fortnight of mall runs and school drops, a Range Rover rides better over bad tarmac and costs far less to feed.

Feeding it is the honest catch. The 85-litre tank takes premium fuel and a heavy right foot drains it quickly, so plan on regular stops. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental are yours to cover, and as a luxury car the Urus takes a substantial deposit, so there's no no-deposit option on this one. The daily allowance is 250 km, then AED 0.5 for each kilometre beyond it, and you need to be 25 to take the keys.
