The Ferrari Purosangue 2024 is Ferrari's first SUV, and it changes what a Ferrari rental in Dubai can mean. Every other car in this fleet is a two-seat or 2+2 coupe with a low nose and a driving position close to the tarmac, but the Purosangue is a genuine four-door, four-seat body built around a naturally aspirated V12, tall enough to see over the crossovers and pickups sharing Sheikh Zayed Road with it. The V12, and how it drives

Ferrari didn't turbocharge this one. The Purosangue runs a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12, 6,496cc, making 725 PS (715 hp) at 7,750 rpm and 716 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm, with 80 percent of that torque available from as low as 2,100 rpm. It's the last big Ferrari V12 that revs to 8,250 rpm without a turbo waking it up first, and that changes how the car feels next to the twin-turbo V8s already on this fleet. Power goes through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox to all four wheels through Ferrari's 4RM-S system, a power take-off unit over the front axle that only sends torque forward when the rear tyres need the help. Zero to 100 km/h takes 3.3 seconds and the car keeps pulling to 310 km/h, though what you'll actually use on a Dubai week is the way it gathers speed on Sheikh Zayed Road without a downshift, and how the engine note builds toward the redline instead of flattening out early the way a turbo V8 does.

The Purosangue also rides higher than any other car we hand over from this badge, with 185mm of ground clearance that its active suspension can lift to around 215mm. That's enough for the steeper mall ramps and taller speed bumps around the Marina and Downtown that catch lower Ferraris square on. At just over two metres wide with the mirrors out, though, you still want a slow, deliberate line into a tight multi-storey bay rather than confidence borrowed from the ride height.

Four seats, the boot and what actually fits

This is a real four-seater, not a badge on a rear bench nobody uses. Ferrari built the Purosangue around four individual seats and never offered a five-seat option, because the transmission tunnel and centre console run straight through the back, leaving room for two people, not three. The rear doors, which Ferrari calls welcome doors, are rear-hinged and open from the front edge rather than the usual way, so climbing into the back seat here is genuinely easier than in any coupe on this fleet. No folding a front seat forward, no twisting sideways.

The boot holds 473 litres, close to double what the Roma's 2+2 boot carries and more than any other Ferrari we rent. Four adults with a case each and a couple of soft bags fit without a fight, which makes this the only car in the range that works honestly for a family or a group of four heading to DXB or DWC with real luggage, not just an overnight bag between two people.

Running cost, heat and the cabin

The 100-litre tank wants premium fuel, and Ferrari's own combined figure is 17.3 litres per 100 km, good for around 570 km on a full tank of gentle driving. That's thirstier than any coupe on this fleet, which makes sense given the size and a naturally aspirated V12 doing the work without a turbo's efficiency, so budget for more stops on a week of mixed city and highway driving than a Roma or a 296 GTB would need.

The taller cabin has more air to cool than a low coupe, but it also has proper rear vents and glass for both rows, so once the air conditioning catches up, all four seats get cooled, not just the front two. Give it a minute after a few hours parked outside in the July sun before you expect the back seats to feel normal. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental come back to you, same as with every car we hand over, and seat belts are mandatory in all four seats, with a child seat required for anyone under four.

Who should rent it, and who should look elsewhere

Rent the Ferrari Purosangue 2024 if you want the V12 experience but actually need all four seats and the boot for a week, whether that's a family trip or four adults who'd rather not split into two cars. It's the only car in this fleet that does that without asking you to compromise on the badge, and it rides higher and softer than any coupe here, which matters more than it sounds on Dubai's speed bumps and mall ramps.

Look elsewhere if the sharpest, most dramatic version of the experience is what you're after. The 296 GTB and F8 are more focused point to point, and if practicality matters less to you than outright drama, they're the better pick of the fleet. A few terms to plan for: the daily allowance is 250 km, then AED 0.5 for every kilometre beyond it, and you need to be at least 25 to take the keys. This sits at the very top of the fleet, so a refundable deposit applies rather than a no-deposit deal.
