Dodge Charger 2020 - start from 320 AED / day

Want a four-door that fills the mirror of the car ahead, we bring the Dodge Charger 2020 to your door in Dubai, no deposit required, within an hour or two of booking. This is the AWD V6 in red, a full-size American sedan that looks like trouble and seats five in real comfort. Most renters pick it for the shape and the badge rather than the stopwatch, and that's an honest reason to pick it. Below we cover what the Charger actually does well here, where the long body and the fuel bill catch people out, and who should rent the sharper sedan or an SUV instead.

A muscle car with four real doors

The Charger's trick is presence without the two-door penalty. You get the wide stance, the scowling face and the long bonnet, but also a back seat three adults can sit across and a boot that swallows a week's worth of bags. On Sheikh Zayed Road it reads as a serious car, and at this rate that's a lot of road presence for the money.

The 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 sends 300 hp through all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic. It's quick enough, 0 to 100 in the low sixes, and it cruises the E11 without effort or drama. But be clear about what this engine is: it's the sensible Charger, not the Hemi. The noise is more low hum than V8 thunder, and if you're renting purely for the soundtrack you'll find the V6 a touch polite. For looks, space and easy highway pace, it delivers. For tyre-smoke theatre, it doesn't, and we'd rather you knew that before delivery than after.

Fuel: plan to refuel more than you think

The V6 is the economical Charger, but economical is relative on a two-tonne RWD-rooted sedan. In Dubai's stop-start traffic and the heat, expect real-world figures closer to the 13 L/100km city number than the highway one, especially with the AC working hard. The 70-litre tank gives you a useful range, roughly 500 to 550 km of mixed driving before you're hunting for a station. For a week of city errands and a couple of highway runs, budget for two to three fills. Fuel's cheap here, so it's not painful, but this isn't a car you forget about at the pump.

The long body and Dubai parking

At just over five metres, the Charger is a long car, and you feel it in the tight places. Marina and JBR multi-storey bays, narrow mall ramps and three-point U-turns all ask for a bit more patience than a compact sedan does. The nose is low too, around 132 mm of clearance, so take aggressive speed bumps and steep ramp lips slowly to avoid scraping the front lip. On open roads and airport runs to DXB or DWC none of this matters; the size that's a chore in a basement bay is exactly what makes it relaxed at 120. Just don't expect to thread it through a packed old-town lane without working for it.

Heat, AC and the cabin

The cabin is genuinely roomy, and that's a mixed blessing in July. There's a lot of air to cool when the car's been baking at 45 degrees, so the first few minutes after pickup are warm even with the AC flat out. Give it a moment, drop the windows for thirty seconds to vent the worst of it, and the system pulls the temperature down to comfortable within a few minutes. The front vents are strong and rear passengers get their own outlets, which matters when there are three in the back. It's a comfortable place to sit out a long drive once it's settled.

What you handle as the renter

Salik toll gates charge automatically as you pass, and those tolls are billed to you, not us. Any RTA fines, including the speed cameras that watch Sheikh Zayed Road closely, pass to the renter as well, so keep an eye on the limits; a big sedan invites a heavier right foot than you mean to use. Seatbelts are mandatory for everyone in the car. None of this is unusual for Dubai, but the Charger's easy highway pace makes the speed point worth repeating.

Boot and everyday space

The boot is one of the Charger's quiet strengths. It's deep and wide enough for two or three large suitcases plus soft bags, which puts it ahead of most sedans this size and makes it a real airport-run car for a family or a group. Inside, the back seat takes three adults for shorter trips and two in proper comfort for long ones. As a five-seat sedan for a week of mall runs, beach days and one airport pickup, it has the space to back up the looks.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Charger 2020 if you want a big, good-looking American sedan with a usable family cabin and easy highway manners, and you care more about how it looks and feels than how fast it is. It's a strong pick for a group that wants presence on Sheikh Zayed Road and room for luggage, at a rate that undercuts the obvious German sedans.

Skip it if you want the V8 drama, the badge alone won't give you that. Skip it too if your week is mostly tight city parking and short hops, where the length and the thirst become a daily tax; a compact sedan is the easier tool. And if you need to go off the tarmac toward Hatta or the dunes, the low nose and road-biased setup rule it out, so size up to an SUV. For its actual brief, looks, space and relaxed cruising at a value price, the V6 Charger earns its keep.
