Dodge Challenger 2020 - start from 460 AED / day

The Dodge Challenger 2020 makes most sense as a highway car, and that's the angle we'd push you toward before you book one in Dubai. We deliver it across the city within one to two hours, and you can settle payment however suits you on the day, card, cash, bank transfer or a wallet. This is the 5.7-litre V8 R/T, rear-wheel drive, 380 hp, and the case for it is the open road: a long, relaxed cruiser that eats E11 miles and pulls away from anything when you ask. What it isn't is a city runabout, and we'll tell you exactly where it gets awkward so the week doesn't surprise you.

Built for the open road

Point the Challenger down Sheikh Zayed Road and it settles into the kind of long-legged cruise American coupes do better than almost anything. The 5.7-litre HEMI is lazy and torquey, so at a steady 120 it's barely working, the cabin stays calm, and an overtake is one squeeze of the throttle away. The eight-speed automatic loafs along at low revs, then drops a couple of gears and shoves hard when you want it. With 380 hp to the rear wheels and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 5.6 seconds, it's properly quick in a straight line.

It's a big, heavy coupe and it drives like one. On a flowing road that weight feels planted and grown-up. That same mass is why it never pretends to be a back-road sports car, and that's fine, because the roads it's built for are the long, fast ones out of the city.

Fuel, and the running reality

A V8 this size is thirsty, and there's no honest way around it. On a steady highway cruise it's reasonable, but Dubai's stop-start city traffic and the temptation to use the engine push real-world consumption into the mid-teens of litres per 100 km, often higher if you enjoy it. The 70-litre tank gives a fair range, but plan on filling up more than once across a busy week. Fuel here is cheap by global standards, which softens the blow, yet you don't rent this car to save money on petrol. If running cost is your main concern, this is the wrong page.

Space, and being honest about it

Five seats on paper, but treat the rear as occasional. Up front there's real room and a comfortable seat for two adults on a long drive. The back is tight for grown-ups, the doors are long and heavy, and getting in past the folded front seats isn't graceful. Two kids back there for a short hop is fine; two adults across town will be asking how much further.

The boot is the pleasant surprise. For a coupe this shape it holds more than you'd expect, enough for a couple of large cases plus soft bags, so a DXB or DWC airport run for two travellers genuinely works. Just remember you're loading through one fixed opening, not a wide hatch.

Parking, ramps and the city friction

This is where the Challenger asks for patience. It's a wide, long car with limited rear visibility, so multi-storey bays in the Marina and packed mall car parks take care and a steady eye on the mirrors. Ground clearance is low at around 130 mm, so crawl over aggressive speed bumps and take steep ramp transitions gently to avoid scraping the nose. U-turns need the full lane. None of it is a dealbreaker, but it's daily friction you should expect, and it's the strongest reason this car suits highway weeks over errand-heavy ones.

Heat, the cabin and the AC

Dubai summer is the real test of anything you park outside, and a coupe with a big glass area soaks up heat fast. Leave it in an open lot at midday and the first minute back inside is genuinely hot. The AC is strong once it's working, though. Give it two or three minutes with the fans up and the cabin pulls down to comfortable, and on the move it holds temperature even when it's pushing 45 outside. Park in shade where you can and drop the windows for the first few seconds to dump the worst of the heat.

Two operational notes for any Dubai rental. Salik tolls run on your account at every gantry, and any RTA fine during the rental passes to the renter. Seatbelts are mandatory in all seats, and a child seat is required for under-fours, which we can fit on request.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Challenger 2020 if your week leans on the highway: weekend drives out toward the coast, long cruises on the E11, and the easy V8 muscle that makes those miles a pleasure. For a couple who value how a car feels at speed over how it packs and parks, it's a great few days.

Skip it if you're carrying four adults regularly, doing constant short city errands and tight parking, or counting fuel stops. A sedan or a compact SUV will be cheaper to run and far easier to live with day to day. Match the Challenger to the open road and it's exactly the right call; ask it to be a city car and you'll feel every kilo.
