Bmw M5 2025 - start from 1,523 AED / day

Skip the deposit and you can have the 2025 BMW M5 brought to your door in Dubai, no large hold sitting on your card while you drive it. This is the G90 M5, the first time the badge has gone plug-in hybrid, and it changes how the car feels in the first ten metres. There's a brief electric crawl out of the parking structure before the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 wakes up and reminds you what 717 hp does. We rent it across the city, and the honest pitch is simple: this is a five-seat executive sedan that does the school run in silence and a Sheikh Zayed Road overtake like a supercar, with the caveats that come from carrying a battery and a V8 at once.

What the new hybrid M5 actually is

The headline isn't economy. It's that BMW bolted an electric motor inside the gearbox of an already huge V8, so the combined output lands at 717 hp and 1,000 Nm. The electric layer gives you a short electric-only mode, around 69 km on the lab cycle, useful for slipping out of a quiet residential block at 6am without waking anyone. In Dubai you'll mostly run it as a hybrid and let both power sources work together, which is where the 3.4-second sprint comes from.

The trade-off is weight. This M5 tips past 2.4 tonnes, and you feel it the moment you ask it to change direction hard. On the straight it hides the mass completely, but through a tight ramp or a quick lane change it's a big, planted car rather than a darty one. M xDrive all-wheel drive keeps all that power usable, even when you bury the throttle from a standstill on a hot road surface.

Will my cases fit, and how often will I refuel

The boot holds 466 litres. For a car this size that's modest, because the hybrid battery eats into the floor, so don't expect saloon-sized luggage room. Two large hard cases and a couple of soft bags is a realistic airport load for a DXB or DWC run. Stack four people's full holiday luggage and you'll be putting a bag on the back seat.

On fuel, ignore the WLTP economy figure entirely. That 1.6 l/100km number assumes you keep the battery topped up and drive gently, which nobody renting an M5 does. Drive it the way it wants to be driven and the V8 drinks hard. The 60-litre tank is fine for daily city use, but a week of enthusiastic driving means regular stops at the pump. The realistic call on a rental is to treat the electric mode as a quiet bonus around the neighbourhood and enjoy the V8 the rest of the time. Charging it nightly for 69 km of range is a fair bit of bother for the payoff, and most renters won't.

Heat, cooling and living with it day to day

Cabin cooling is strong, which matters when the car has been parked in 45-degree sun. The AC pulls a baked cabin down quickly, and there are proper rear vents, so passengers in the back aren't an afterthought. The interior is plush, quiet at a cruise, and comfortable for long airport transfers or a full day across the city.

A few Dubai practicalities. Salik tolls run up on this car the same as any other, and they're the renter's responsibility, as are any RTA fines, so keep an eye on the speed limits because this car gathers pace faster than your sense of it does. Seatbelts are mandatory front and back. At 5.1 metres long it's a full-size sedan to park, and the 115mm ground clearance is low, so take speed bumps and steep mall ramps slowly to avoid scraping the front lip.

On the road: where it shines and where it doesn't

Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 are its natural habitat. Overtaking is instant, the car is rock-steady at speed, and the cabin stays calm while the numbers on the dash climb. The top speed is limited to 250 km/h, lifted to 305 with the M Driver's Package, though Dubai's limits mean you'll never legally see either.

Where it's less convincing is anywhere tight or anywhere you want outright space. It's wide, it's long, and multi-storey bays in older buildings make you concentrate. The pace is also more than most drivers will ever use on public roads, so be honest with yourself about why you're renting it. If you want the badge and the noise and the occasional clear-road blast, it delivers. If you mostly want a comfortable, fast cruiser without the weight and thirst, a regular 5 Series does 90 percent of the job for far less drama.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the 2025 M5 if you want a genuine super-sedan for a few days, something that's plush and civilised in traffic and savage when the road opens up, and you don't mind feeding the V8. It's the rare car that handles the family-and-errands week and a proper highway blast equally well.

Skip it if your week is mostly luggage and passengers, where the modest boot and the price of all that performance don't earn their keep. For four adults and a full set of cases, a larger sedan or an SUV makes more sense. And if you simply want fast and comfortable without the bulk, the 5 Series is the calmer, cheaper choice. The M5 is for the renter who specifically wants what only an M5 does. Note that stricter security terms may apply on a car like this, so confirm the details at booking.
