Zero to 100 km/h takes 6.3 seconds, which is respectable for a car this size rather than quick in any way that matters day to day. That's the honest read on the 730: it isn't the engine you rent for a hard overtake or a spirited drive. Power builds smoothly and the gearbox stays out of the way, so the car moves with the same unhurried confidence whether you're pulling onto Sheikh Zayed Road or crawling out of a hotel driveway. If outright shove is what you want, BMW's own 735i or 750Li carry a six-cylinder or V8 and cost more to rent for the privilege.

The back seat, and why it's the point

Almost the entire benefit of the long-wheelbase body goes into the rear cabin, and at a 3,210 mm wheelbase there's a genuine amount of it to give. Two adults sit with proper leg room, the seatbacks recline, and road and wind noise stay low enough that a stretch of traffic on the way to a meeting doesn't wear anyone down.
