Audi A4 Allroad 2023 - start from 384 AED / day

Most people in the market for a premium all-rounder default straight to an SUV, and the Audi A4 Allroad 2023 is the car we point them to when they're about to make a mistake. We rent it across Dubai with doorstep delivery, and the case for it is the case for a raised estate over a tall crossover. You get a long, flat boot, quattro all-wheel drive, and a low, car-like feel that no SUV gives you, with just enough extra ride height to clear the obstacles Dubai throws at a normal sedan. It's a specialist's choice, and the rest of this page is about whether you're the specialist it suits.

Wagon, not sedan: what you're really getting

The source listing calls this a sedan, but the Allroad is an estate, and that distinction is the entire point. The roof runs flat all the way to the tailgate instead of sloping into a saloon's narrow boot. Behind the rear seats you have around 495 litres, a square, usable space rather than a letterbox slot. Fold the back down and it opens to roughly 1,495 litres, enough for bikes, flat-pack furniture, or a serious airport haul for four.

The "Allroad" badge also means a raised ride and quattro all-wheel drive as standard, with about 172 mm of ground clearance. That's a touch more than a regular A4, enough to take Dubai's higher speed bumps and steeper mall ramps without the scrape a low sedan makes. Don't mistake it for a 4x4. The quattro system is here for grip and stability at speed, not for soft sand.

Will your luggage actually fit

For most renters, comfortably. Two large hard cases lie flat with a soft bag or two stacked on top, and you can still see out the back. That's the wagon's edge over a sedan of the same class, where cases go in nose-first at an angle and waste half the space. Four adults flying into DXB with full luggage works fine, because the long floor takes what the rear seats can't. If you're hauling something awkward, drop the seats and the flat 1,495-litre load bay does real work.

The only honest caveat: it's wide cargo room, not tall cargo room. You won't stand a fridge upright in it. For everything a Dubai week normally involves, that's a non-issue.

On the road and how often you'll refuel

The 2.0-litre turbo with its mild-hybrid assist makes 204 hp and reaches 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds, which is enough to merge and overtake on Sheikh Zayed Road without planning the move three cars ahead. The quattro grip and the long wheelbase give it a quiet, planted cruise on the E11, and it shrugs off crosswinds better than a taller car. This is where the Allroad feels best: settled, fast enough, and far calmer than an SUV at 120.

Audi's combined figure is around 7.4 L/100 km, and real Dubai driving with the AC fighting the heat will run a little higher. On a 58-litre tank that still stretches across several days of mixed running, so a typical week means one fill, maybe two if you roam toward Abu Dhabi or Hatta.

Staying cool when the cabin's been baking

Leave any car in an open Dubai lot in July and the interior turns into an oven. The Allroad cools the way a car at this level should: the front vents hit hard, the system pulls a baked cabin down to bearable within a few minutes, and there are rear vents so back-seat passengers aren't left to suffer. The glass area is generous, which looks great and heats fast, so park in shade where you can. The cabin itself is the quiet, solidly finished Audi interior, and on long highway stints that's a real part of what you're paying for.

Parking, tolls and the rules

At 4,762 mm it's a long car, and the wagon tail makes it feel longer than the A4 sedan in a tight space. In cramped Marina multi-storeys and on the corkscrew ramps you'll lean on the sensors and camera, and reversing into a narrow bay takes a beat of care. The 172 mm clearance clears most bumps cleanly; take the aggressive ones slowly.

Salik tolls run on your account as you pass the gantries, and any RTA fines during the rental pass to you, so watch the cameras on the E11. Seat belts are required in every seat, and a child under four needs a proper child seat, which we can fit before delivery.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the A4 Allroad 2023 if you want estate space and quattro grip in a premium package, and you genuinely prefer the lower, car-like feel to sitting up high in an SUV. It's the right call for the driver doing highway miles who also needs a flat, long boot for luggage or gear.

Skip it in two cases. If you want a commanding view out and real height, an SUV like the Q5 gives you more of both. And if you only need to move two people and a couple of bags around the city, a standard A4 or something smaller rents for less and parks more easily. The Allroad earns its money when the boot and the all-wheel drive both matter. If only one of them does, save the money.
