JLT and Dubai Marina, both around 10 to 15 minutes away, run paid RTA zones and packed basements, so a compact is the smarter rental if your week is mostly errands and Marina dinners. Keep the larger SUV for a family with luggage or a weekend run toward Al Ain or Abu Dhabi on Emirates Road.

The Meadows and The Lakes sit just off Sheikh Zayed Road near interchange 4, by the Mall of the Emirates, with Al Khail Road close behind for the inland run. Whether you pay a toll depends entirely on which way you turn.
Head onto Sheikh Zayed Road toward Downtown or DIFC and the Al Barsha gate is the first one you cross. At the door we check the licence and run through the car quickly. Residents need a UAE licence and Emirates ID. Visitors need a passport, a home licence, and an International Driving Permit where your nationality requires one. A card on file covers the rest. The whole thing takes a few minutes, and then the car is yours, sitting in your own driveway. When you're done we collect from the same spot.
